Meet Byron Ferguson: Byron Ferguson first became infatuated with archery at the age of 12. He began working as a bricklayer’s helper to earn money to purchase his first very recurve bow. Byron developed his style of shooting by sitting in a totally dark room and shooting the flames out of candles repetitively.
Over the years, he’s developed some insane trick shots like shooting 8 dimes in a row out of the air, shooting a playing card in half form the side, and shooting a clock thrown into the air while blindfolded.
According to Byron, one of the most difficult shots of his career was while he was on the Tokoyo television show Super People. The show sprung the shot onto Byron and he had to shoot an arrow through a diamond ring without any practice- as skill would have it, Byron made a perfect shot.
Byron attributes a lot his inspiration from what some call the best archer since Robinhood and william tell- his name - Howard Hill.
Aside from being known for winning 196 consecutive archery tournaments, Hill was arguable best known for his role in The Adventures of Robin Hood. Hill holds perhaps the most iconic bow-and-arrow shot in American film history which is him acting as Robin Hood shooting his own arrow to split a competitor's arrow already embedded in a distant target.
If Byron seems familiar, it might be because you seen him at an outdoor show over the last 20 years. Mr. Ferguson still to this day is putting on live exhibition shoots showcasing some of the shots we’ve shared here today. At his live shows you’ll often find his assistant and wife throwing areal targets for Byron. You can find his show schedule on his website.
With decades of appearances on various television shows or a simple search on KZbin seeing the 10’s of millions of views byron's videos have accumulated, it’s clear Byron has created a legacy of his own and has helped eep the spirit of traditional archery alive.
At the end day Byron Ferguson is easily on the mount rushmore of all time archers.
For lack of better words, Byron's archery ability is simply unbelievable.

Not only an outstanding archer he is one heck of a nice guy. I got to both watch and meet him at several events probably ten years ago. I even got to eat dinner with him and his wife where we shared some good stories.

I have never had the pleasure of seeing him shoot his bow 🏹 in person, but have seen many of his trick shots at the end of a show on TV while I was growing up throughout the 1990s.

He’s one of the very few people on earth who can literally bring his bow to a gun fight, and actually WIN!

Thanks to Byron I shot an arrow in my dad's three day old pickup. Wooden arrow with old steel broadhead. Attempting trick shots after watching him on the Nashville Network lol. Never forget the ass whipping I took for that stunt

This man is a great archer and was doing this kind of archery a long time b4 most! Deffo paved the way for guys like another worlds best archer lars anderson! That gut never misses! And can shoot arrows through key holes at a moments notice! And can shoot arrows faster than you can count them leaving the bow!! Makes you wonder at the level of skill our ancestors possessed when their daily survival depended on hitting their mark every time no matter whatever. Shits deep!! And an art!

Yeah sure he's accurate...but this is only one facet of archery...to be a complete archer means that you have mastered and your archery stands upon three pillars..speed ...power and precision...he is precise but his speed is like the second coming......he's slow as hell. Remember where archery came from and the manner it was used ..traditionally..this is supposedly traditional archery is it not , archery was used to feed one's self and family and its greater importance was that it defended them from marauders . Had Byron lived in those times...and tried to survive solely on his accuracy...he would quickly be killed by the archers of those times who were complete in their training...you wanna talk about precision...kasar the brother of Ganghis khan during an archery exhibition put on for visiting dignitaries fired three arrows that all hit their mark at 540 yards in rapid succession...the minimum requirement for a Mamluk to be allowed to join the ranks and have the honor of going to battle....he had to be able to hit a target at 70 meters the arrows had to pass under a rope place at the halfway point 3 meters from the ground he had to do this with 3 arrows the last of which had be be on its way before the first arrow even hit the target. Very few archers are impressive to me and Byron is the least of them ....it might be fun at children's parties but that's about it....in a duel of arrows I wouldn't be concerned about him one bit ...but he best be very concerned and have his affairs in order before hand.
