As someone who has a BED for the majority of my life at this point, thank you Joe for being honest and respectful when talking about this! Not many people really understand that overeating to a more harmful degree is usually due to emotional issues. So just stating the obvious or being insulting doesn't help at all. I've seen it happen, and it usually pushes people into more disordered eating (whether it's over-consumption or under-consumption) because issues that last for years need professional help to manage and take control over.
