Every game of Airsoft will have cheaters, the real failing here was with the refs
@tntboom234_33 жыл бұрын
As a ref for paintball i do agree but there's often a lot going on so you have to trust the people that have experience and know what their doing to make the game run at all.
@nickkontozoglus47713 жыл бұрын
@@tntboom234_3 I have a lot of respect for you. And other airsoft and paintball refs. I know I wouldn’t want to be a ref cause there’s so much that goes on everywhere and I’m very oblivious to obvious things sometimes. I’m sure you guys get a lot of rude people and ones that are hard to deal with, especially with how competitive airsoft and paintball can be.
@nicleeder3 жыл бұрын
Like tntboom234, I was a paintball ref, though in Ontario years back and it is really difficult to call out cheaters unless you see it happening. When you have a field with 30ish players all running around inside and around buildings with foliage blocking your field of view further it is nearly impossible. That's even considering that paint leaves a discernable mark. We've all heard the usual bullshit, "It was a ricochet, it bounced, I didn't feel it, etc etc." Then you are left with the decision to call that player a liar or to tell the one making the complaint that they may have been mistaken (not even bothering to mention that sore losers also make accusations about the better/luckier player being a cheater). Then there's also the consideration that it's a business and calling your customers liars and cheaters, even if you don't say those words, is generally frowned upon. Again, unless you CATCH them. Don't go blaming the ref's because they are not omnipotent. And as for the ref testing, Dutch said it best himself. Guilty minds are the loudest. We know that Dutch has not deliberately failed to call a hit but do they? With this video there is an abundance of evidence to the cheating, which was always a requirement so the field should ban him but never based on another players complaint, even if that player is a prolific airsoft youtuber.

@@handsinthefire Fair point, however that doesn't really help anyone at the time. A ref is not going to bust out a laptop and download the footage at work. Now if they see this then do nothing we have a problem and it should be addressed.

Worst refs ever. I hope you complain to the organizers, it wouldn't at all be a Karen move. Karen's complain to get what they want, while strong folk stand up to abuse especially when it involves others. If I had to guess, it seems as though he was getting special treatment or at least I hope so because otherwise those refs are the most incompetent, spineless, idiots in the sport. I ran an 8v8 group in HS to raise money for "extracurriculars," and I know that the difference between a fun time and a bad time is the refs/organizers. I believe anyone would rather lose 3 games in a row fairly than have a back and forth where everyone is frustrated (silently or otherwise.)

Honestly, seeing videos like this makes me think everyone should have three cameras on them. If I owned a field, I would almost require you to have at least one camera on you so this exact thing doesn't happen. Refs can't be everywhere (and these guys seemed to be nowhere) to make people play fair and just the knowledge that everyone is recording and being recorded is enough to keep MOST people honest.

I do feel bad for Micah on his first day to encounter one of the biggest type of douchebags in this sport. It can give him the wrong impression of how fun Airsoft can be when everybody is playing like they should. And he needs to adjust his hop up a bit :). And regarding the cheater, yes. You did handle it professionally. You did called it out, frustrated, but you did do the right thing. And yes, they all looked the same because it looks like they're in one team. But in my opinion, if you play on a field where the referee cannot do anything about cheaters, I would do exactly the same thing or pack up my kit and go. Because if the referee's or admins or marshalls cannot/will not do anything, it means they're not competent and that can ruin your entire day. Also respect for one of their team to appologize on his behalf. That's real sportsmanship, right there.

Something I've always respected and admired about your approach to airsoft is how you see yourself as the example. So many people who are "adults" in todays society don't want to take action for their own mistakes, and seeing you be such a friendly and approachable person in the sport is really refreshing. So thank you

That one looks like a cool field, too! I like your reasoning for not arguing with the guy. Not only will it not do anything, but you referenced that there are kids there watching y’all. Classy move. Also, the “cheater’s friend” who apologize at the end had some sweet kit.
