"#2. That we treat our opinions as facts." This one sticks out the most for me because it's something too many people think. And the funny thing is, most of us music KZbinrs are actually the loudest in saying "this is just our opinion." Many of us don't treat our opinion as facts, and often, it's the other way around: viewers take the opinions we put out and treat them as fact. They put the opinions of music KZbinrs on pedestals and act like they should be seen as unquestionable facts that cannot be challenged, and we who put those opinions out can never change them because they must be accepted as fact.

#5 is what stuck with me the most, especially since I’ve had people come at me for saying I’ve never cared for Lil Tjay, Rod Wave, Roddy Ricch just to name a few. Not saying they’re bad or anything, but they’ve just never released anything that interested me, but that shouldn’t mean I gotta wipe your a$$ to make you happy about my opinion

Bro #2 is STRAIGHT FACTS! Every time someone makes a statement on music in general. There’s always responses saying “that’s your opinion tho.” I’m always like “yeah nigga, and?” Obviously what you’re saying is already subjective. It’s very irritating. Also thanks for the lil mention @19:50

Also, these super popular rappers have massive fanbases that already fuck heavy with them and love everything they do. Their catalogue speaks for itself and the fans, and yes, critics, know it. So when someone says that they're not interested in something or they're not into something, how is that their problem? How is that gonna damage the artist?

I appreciate Amiri being honest in this video about a lot. Everyone has unpopular opinions that people will not agree with and there are many albums I do not listen to myself. I will hear songs, but the number of straight up albums I have heard all the way through are slim even for artists I love. It is one of the reasons I think Amiri may not be recognized as much as he should be as people rarely seem interested to hear the truth on what people think. Obviously Amiri does not care, but it would be nice as a fan to see his videos get more love since he is honest and does not try and force anything.

I think there's certain people who conflate hip hip music itself with hip hop media and hip hop culture in general and thats why they assume you should be talking about hip hop culture and hip hop media along music reviews. besides not being able to tell the difference or the assumption that you HAVE to talk about all three if youre talking about music, it could come from a genuine desire for people to have your specific style and take on the newest development in hip hop culture and media but forget that culture and media aren't the topics you cover. Personally, I find it at least mildly disrespectful for people to think they can bait you into making content they want you to make by dangling the prospect of views in front of you. to assume you make videos for views is presumptuous and rude and really shows how cheaply they value the content you make, you as a content creator, and your motivations for making them are. I understand that there are youtubers who really do make videos for views, but to assume you're one of them is at least mildly insulting and shows bad faith for engaging with you channel. esspecially if you've never been open about views being your motivation or that being evident in the quality of the content you make. Just because you have good topics for a video or a video happens to become popular, doesnt mean views were what you wanted all along nor should that be assumed of you.

I think some of these behaviors come from people who, first of all, interprets anyone who makes a video on music as approaching music from a place of authority. Whether they place youtubers there themselves or are interpreting that youtubers are putting themselves in a place of authority just because they make videos for the world to watch. I think viewers wouldn't do the most things mentioned in the video if they didn't treat youtubers as an authority on music in the first place. This only applies to non gatekeeping behavior tho.

I mean people can change and grow? I mean the way you feel about something can definitely change as you grow older, it's called maturing and evolving. The way how you'll feel about something now will change in 5 years, just like how you felt about something 5 years ago has changed now (at least I hope) so that's frustrating. Also like you said common sense doesn't seem to be that common. People, it's like we don't need to hear imo every 5 seconds, it should just be assumed, and if you disagree with a person's choices, you can kindly state in the comments why you disagree and have a healthy debate. It boggles me how people will be butt hurt over someone having a different opinion on their fav, it's like it's ok for us to think differently. Anyway, I enjoyed this video, and I didn't even realize that you weren't going to do an Eminem ranking one or a drake ranking one, mostly because those are my 2 favorite rappers. Maybe one day haha

I don't think you need to care about current events in hip hop but knowing about them is good because it's informative 5.just like old school rappers you don't need to listen to them but you should at least know the popular artist (like drake, Cole, juice wrld, etc), I would say even more because they're pushed even more in this internet age

@@AmiriHipHop facts that’s true everybody has their reasons to why they like/dislike an artist… to me tho this is the only scenario where it’s like “shit if you like cole you might wanna check out kendrick” 😂🤷🏽‍♂️😭 cuz lyrically they both can rap like a mf and are versatile as well and can produce those singing/rap type of bangers. She knows, too deep for the intro, king kunta, the recipe, sing about me. And I ain’t mean to make it seem like people should listen to them just cuz they rap about the same thing, I get that isn’t the only factor, maybe I’m just such a big fan of both it seems odd at times🤣🤣but I get it

I know where your coming from, but I don’t agree with saying all music is subjective. Music is a art, and if no form of art can be objectively bad, no form of art can be objectively good either. It would be like saying that the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and a doodle in my notebook are of the same value.
