We've taken another step toward determining the absolute WORST board game of all time! This Quarterfinal Update showcases all 4 games that have advanced to the Shabby Semifinal, with color commentary from Joshua Jacobs and comments from the fans showing the weaknesses of each title.

We can do both at the same time and I WANT to see which game is the 3rd worst My vote is that "what do you meme?" is going 4th place, North Africa will be 3rd place (too well crafted to win against the scam) and the finals will be RPS vs adultery where I don't know the end result.

I think the funniest part is that in the name itself, The Campaign for North Africa: The Desert War 1940-43, there's reference to the fact that the real thing only took 3/4 years. The fact that a board game takes longer to play than the actual thing it's based on is so hilariously underrated. Like imagine if The Rock Paper Scissors Game took 4 hours per round. That's how absurd CFNA is.

I'm hoping to see Campaign for North Africa vs Adultery. Most "bad" games you'll play once and forget everything that happened the next day. These two though, they both have something terrible yet special that makes playing them something you could never forget. That makes them worthy of moving forward.

RPS vs Adultery would be an interesting final. Neither really are worth any money, as you can play RPS any time for free, no plastic or cardboard needed, and Adultery is basically a glorified version of spin the bottle, which literally just requires a few good friends and a bottle (And doesn't have to be 100% about sex). Put like that, I think Adultery should win, but not necessarily by much, solely on the virtue that RPS isn't anywhere near as horrendously gross.

if it's rps vs wdym, RPS takes the dub extremely easily. the real interesting matchup is rps vs adultery. adultery is mostly carried by controversy, while rps has absolutely nothing of value.

And Adultery the game adds on arbitrary constraints when you could just...set them yourself, no game needed. Even if it's aimed at swingers, you have to be okay with people watching first, then with having a strict time limit, then with people scoring you after the fact - including the possibility they score you low.

Considering the Campaign for North Africa, the Dessert War 1940-43 clearly got that far due to its cool and unique elements, not the bad ones, which judges clearly tried to tackle here, I think it will actually go down in semi-finals and make room for the actual horrible games

Im still a big defender for CFNA. Its a war game that had too much bloat and too many mechanics. At the end of the day though, its a complete board game with unique mechanics. Compared to the others, all of them either are novelty gag gifts, toys, or inferior versions.

Between these 4 games the only one I’d actually want to play is What do you meme, and of the remaining 3 the only one that I’d care to own is Campaign for North Africa. And if I were immortal I think I could find way more to enjoy with CFNA than any of the other games, so honestly I think the final round should be between Rock Paper Scissors and Adultery.

The Semi Finals are true fight of the souls. The most overomplicated game ever versus the most oversimplified, meaningless pieces of plastic in the existance. It's the ultimate chance to see whteher it's worse to overomplicate or oversimplify and overcomplicate will obviously win. It did so against the War already

I'm not so sure. RPS is literally the most pointless waste of money for all parties involved, whereas The Desert War is a unique experience even if all you do is thumb through the rule book and look at the components because you don't have nine clinically insane friends who all have 1500 hours of their lives to devote to an accounting simulation with some war game stuff thrown in as a side activity.

RPS has no reason to be here IMHO. While the RPS game is pointless, mechanically it is still sound. There's nothing about it that really should have let it beat down its competition other than the meme of "paid dlc" Sure it's "bad" ; but it's relatively inoffensive compared to something like Capital Punishment, which I felt should be the finalist here.

North Africa is a good board game and shouldn't be in this tournament to begin with. It may be way too complicated, but it is mechanically sound. In some ways, it can be considered the best board game ever. The other 3 games though all deserve to be here. I'm voting for Rock Paper Scissors and What Do You Meme in the finals.

My predictions: Despite costing money to play and being very simplistic, Rock Paper Scissors would be taken down by the Campaign for North Africa. Adultery beats What Do You Meme because of the subject matter for the former. With those two in the finals, Adultery, despite its topic, will fall against a game that takes a VERY long time to play: The Campaign for North Africa.

The comment I meant to make about Candyland versus What Do You Meme that I forgot about and ran out of time to make is that Candyland was released during a time when a company had to put their money where their mouth was and make the capital they needed to produce a product before they put it on store shelves. WDYM had a fucking Kickstarter. WDYM just wandered around the room with a steel mug rattling it around begging for spare cash. And somehow that got it on my fucking Target's shelves. Fuck WDYM. (Note: Not digging on Kickstarter, it has brought us some amazing things and allowed many creators they funding they need to see their dreams come true. It also allowed WDYM to exist. Swings and roundabouts.)
