I used to volunteer for a skate a club. I was about 11 years old at the time, and I would help little kids learn how to skate. I remember one little boy in particular who simply didn’t like following directions. Instead of participating, he would lie around on the ice, scream, and refuse to cooperate. His mother didn’t do anything. I remember one time where I tried to help him out and he ended up kicking me with his skates and giving me multiple cuts. His mother gave me a horrible rating “because I continuously upset him” and I almost got kicked out. That is bad parenting.

This one kid in my class (i’m in 7th grade) would take his phone and throw it on the ground to prove that it wouldn’t break. After a few weeks of him forcing his phone to the ground, it finally broke. The teacher allowed him to call his parents and tell them what happened. When he stepped back into the class he shrugged and said “Oh whatever i’m getting a new one anyways.”

My mom has this friend who is also a mother, her son was somewhat spoiled and rude. I remember him getting mad about something, I think it was candy, I was pointless. But the mother, my mom’s sweet friend, gave in. I just felt bad, seeing this in a different perspective. I remember being like that when I was younger, but my mom knew when to say no, and when it went too far. I feel bad for the mother, she’s a sweet woman, but is to sweet for her own good. looking back only reason I was there was to be a good example for the kid, or at least that’s what my mom said...

Less severe than the ones in this video, but one of my Dad's friends has two kids a few years younger than me who are pretty spoiled. My family sees them pretty often. They're not rotten children, and I enjoy playing with them, but there's been some instances where their spoilt-ness shone through. So they were at my house along with my Mum's side of the family because we were celebrating my sister's birthday, and I made the mistake of taking out my guitar. One of my older cousins is a skilled guitar player and he showed me a few songs and so did I. The younger of the two asked if he could play my guitar for a bit, he didn't actually know how to play but I let him anyway. I go in my room and hang out with my cousins for a while then come back out where my family friend playing my guitar is at. I ask for it back and he refuses. Not in the mood to argue, I let him have it for a while longer, then go back out. I ask him for it again and he still refuses, and I say to him that I'll allow him to play my guitar if he's in my room with me so I can see what he's doing. He reluctantly agrees. He keeps playing it in my room for while and I ask for him to give it back once more. He refuses, again, and I'm pretty fed up. My other cousins in the room are also trying to encourage him to return it. I don't remember how it got to this, but he asked "What if I break it?" and I reply, "Well, it will be your fault and you'll get in trouble." and he replies, "No, then your parents will just buy you a new one." As if it didn't matter if he broke my guitar.

I remember this one time I was at this Muslim event and I was sitting on the carpet with this mother and her 5? Year old kid. After a while, the kid started to pull my hijab(I'm a Muslim) back and started laughing. I simply didn't say anything and positioned my hijab back in place. The kid did it a couple times and I was slowing losing my patience. Worst thing is, the mom(also a MUSLIM) did NOT do anything about it and just simply said, "oh, don't mind. He is just a kid" (I was 9 at that time) and the kid continued pulling my hijab and laughing like a maniac. Finally, my mom noticed and we exchanged seats and the kid stopped.

I had (still have) a friend (we shall call her Laila) and she is SPOILED. She's not rude or mean or anything (tho she does have a little bit of a temper and a bit of a greedy streak) and is actually very nice to people she likes or doesn't know. But she's had her bedroom remodeled about 5 times, has had 3-4 different beds, had her own flatscreen tv AND Xbox and has had several different phones, an IPod and I think an IPad. I've known her for a few years and when we were about 12 (she's currently 16 and I'm 15), the newest IPhone came out and while we were talking, she said she wanted the new phone. I asked, "Well, what are you gonna do with your phone you have now?" Her answer: "Oh, my dad's just gonna break it so I can have the new one." My young and dumb self didn't think much of it, but now I'm like "Oh. My. God." But she's a really good friend and loves shopping at Goodwill and thrift stores and going to Starbucks. She's also getting better at doing her own chores. She used to have her parents do everything for her (clean her room, wash her dishes, make her food, ETC) and to be honest, I was kind of jealous 😂 But she's now doing those things on her own and I'm actually really proud of her 💜💜💜 So it's all gone for good instead of bad 💜

Same with bday presents, they never bought something for me, they always gave €50 for my bday (which I'm very grateful for) . But since 4 years, if they know I like something, they give it to me on my birthday, it always are small things. Mostly food or drinks I tell them I like, and I'm always surprised and happy with it. I'm glad my parents aren't like loaded. I can appreciate the little things more.

This just reminded of the time when I was eight years old, I had tantrum over the fact that my one of my cousins were recieving a pair of cute slippers while my sister also received a pair of slippers too. I was jealous over the fact my sister recieved slippers while I didn't so I proceeded to cry till I ended up crying loudly until I recieved the slippers that my cousin was gifted. On the otherhand, I was supposed to be gifted a Polly Pocket playset but my cousin took that instead. P.S. This was my only one I have ever had so I never repeated the mistake ever again.

The whole phone thing still confuses me. I don't understand why people are so obsessed with having a fancy and expensive phone. I didn't own one until this fall (for my 18th birthday) and I had such a difficult time picking the actual phone out. My mother flat out refused to help me pick out a phone no matter how much I begged. I chose a $100 Samsung in the end because it allows me to make wifi calling. It has a good camera that actually captures details and color accurately so I don't have to struggle as much to take a decent photo. It's a great phone. I don't understand how it could get much better.

"So many kids are just happy to get.. You know..anything." Yep. Me included. I am not a kid anymore though. But still just someone giving me a gift makes me happy. It can be a bag of lollies anf i'll be happy.

@An Introvert i was going to say i don't get how those kids can be so ungrateful when given something and something really nice too. But that probably comes from the parents aswell. My parents never spoiled me or my brother so we learned to be thankful for what they do give us

Who wouldn't be happy with food. It fills the holes in the soul and the cracks in the heart.

I have a fictional spoiled kid syndrome case : I had a sister named Mia, She was always spoiled by my parents and hated me. My parents were never on my side, let alone love me, but that was after Mia was born. One time, It was a day before Mia's birthday and she screamed so loud at my dad that almost everybody in town heard it. She yelled at him because he wouldn't get her a PS4. ( She has never played a game before and she wanted to spend his money) My dad went into his room in tears. I think went in to comfort him. He appreciated it so much, BUT. One time, I was baby-sitting Mia when my parent's were out on a date. Mia got extremely mad at me for not buying her something, when i told her 16 times that I had no money at all. My mother immediately took her side. Not caring that I had no money. But my dad took my side. My mom kicked me and dad out. Me and my dad actually live together and my dad found a new woman, Her name was Leah. My mother begged to get back together with my dad. Mia actually made my mom go crazy. Mia now lives on the streets. Yeah, I give her money. Enough to buy house. What she buys? Stuff that she doesn't need, Like a phone. I stopped giving her money after a while and she came to my house. WITH A SHOTGUN. She threatened to get me, my dad and my step-mom killed. She wasn't the smartest though, She didn't try to stop my dad from calling the police, so my dad called the cops and she got arrested. I visit her sometimes, and she get's emotional. some days she's happy, some days she's sad and some days she's mad. My mom also went to jail. Why, you might ask? She attempted to rob my dad, and kill my step-mom. Mia is now serving 6 years of prison for murder. My ex-mom is serving 14 years of prison. Mia has to serve only 4 more years of prison. and my mom has to serve 12.
