You are such a wonderful addition to the design space. I love your presentation; so calm and solid. I'm inspired to evaluate my space and change what isn't working as well as it could. Thanks so much!

I’m so glad this video popped up on my page! My partner and I just bought a house so I have been doing a lot of research into creating a lovely space. I have seen many videos online of people suggesting to have matching colours but I haven’t seen anyone emphasize on the importance of incorporating different shades, not just the same colour. Thank you!!

I'm a casual painter, and it's true in artwork: one mixes colors, and you're not “matching” colors; it's nuanced with different shades of color. I never made this association in the area of decorating.

Aaaah I understand now! I understand why, when designing my clothing as well as my interiors, ALL my inspirations come from landscape images, and from the real landscape outside the window. I find something very satisfying in looking at those things. I even designed an outfit (I am a tailor and seamstress) based on a photo of two chocolate labradors with lolling violet/pinkish tongues. Thank you! That makes so much sense.

Thank you Kelly, a real eye opener and game changer. The image of that beautiful landscape at the end was so telling and educational. Outstanding!

You are right. its so easy to see when you point it out! I have often wondered what is wrong with the flatness created by matchy matchy....wow now I know. thank you for this.

Can you please describe in a video how you start from scratch. Colour palette first. Or find your favourite sofa and work from there. Where’s the starting point?

That is a great idea Cathy. I'll see if I can put together a video on this.

How about the use of colours on the walls ? From the examples you have shown the shemes operate similarly, white walls and different stades of à main colour theme for the furniture and accessories lifted by black accents.
@kellyhopterinteriors Жыл бұрын
I would use the same principle - perhaps even more so. Because the walls would be such a prominent hit of colour, I would definitely be careful not to repeat the same shade/tone/tint on other elements to prevent the space from feeling flat.

You hit the nail on the head, this is the perfect learning tool for anyone and I love your calm manner. The landscape image and your bands of color on the side is so good. You explained the reasons why each layer of color choice is in the rooms. Well done, I loved this presentation! My mother followed this same theory years ago in her own home on a very tight budget, but we always had comfortable lovely spaces.
