Can't imagine why there are problems on this layout. The trackwork is immaculate. Straight and smoothly graded... unlike some I've seen on youtube.

if u like this, I highly suggest that you check out the Milwaukee Light Engineering Society (MLES) and check out our webpage at www.MLES.org and if u like it, you will be able to join and be a member at this park. And I also live right near the park and I just bike there every weekend in the summer to go do track work and run trains. we have steam and diesle and we have about a mile and a half of track and you'll have a very fun 20-30 min ride. fun place to go to. you dont even have to like trains to go here because we have lots of great scenery to see. hope to see u there in summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Train Mountain is listed in the Guinness Worlds Records as the 'Worlds longest hobby railroad'. It is now over 37 miles long and still growing. The video shown states that it is a Narrow Gauge Meet. What that means is that the trains running are a slightly larger size than the normal trains at Train Mountain. Normal is 1 1/2 inches to the foot and simulate the US standard of 48 inches wide track on Train Mountains 7 1/2 inch track. Narrow gauge engines and trains are built to 2 1/2 inches to the foot scale and simulate the US narrow gauge of 36 inches wide track. There are even a couple of models built to 3 1/4 inches to the foot which simulates a 24 inch gauge between the rails. Anyhow they all run on Train Mountain 7 1/2 inch wide track. To date some several of millions of dollars have been spent building the railroad and it is now in it's 30th year. The work has been done mostly by a enthusiastic throng of volunteers.
@Twittler13 жыл бұрын
4’ 8.5” = 56.5”, not 48”, for standard gauge.

what caused the train to derail was that the engines in the back were pushing harder than the engines in the front. thus creating the light weight cars to lift off of the track due to all of the stress in the middle of the train. what they needed to do was put all of those engines in the front and MAYBE one in the far back. also, why would anyone use aluminum rail for their track. they must have to replace their tracks all of the time with such soft metal like that! plus it would be far more expensive than the steel alternative, which would last 4 times as long. my guess would be that it is cheaper to replace the rails than it is the wheels on the locomotive and rolling stock, and the aluminum would help keep the wheels from wearing out. Even so though, it seems there are more downsides than upsides in using aluminum rail. I am not an expert in this kind of stuff, but this is just my guess and me thinking aloud.
