I'm there too. Presently redoing our bedroom in mostly whites, creams, etc. There will be Greenery and there will eventually be serene artwork of pleasant, nature/green/brown tones. Just have not found it yet. I may get the walls painted in a very, very light tan/beige, buy I'm not straying from this palette. So far, I'm loving it.
@dismurrart664811 ай бұрын
This is the right way to do it. I think it's the people who paint their infants toys beige that are the problem though.
@enibeni207111 ай бұрын
In my opinion, bland color palette is the problem. For example, In many luxury homes there is too much white, too much black, too much gray....too much combination of white-gray-black...Many luxury homes appear to be bland, sad, dead, unfinished, without "personality", like an office, like a shop, etc.

My grandparents house has been beige forever. A few years ago they painted To “change it up”. They managed to find beige versions of 3 different colors so now there’s a beige-yellow room, a beige-pink room, and a beige-peach room 😂😂😂

Mushroom, squiggles, checkerboard, paper lanterns and bubble dishes, I never took any of these seriously, they do look juvenile and trendy from the start. Completely disposable, or one use, temporary, never thought anybody took them seriously. Great vid Daddy.

I try to imagine paper lighting in our home... well, we have dust. And then, in summer, there are - the flies! We live out in the countryside, with the neighbor's lovely cows all around our house. And what do cattle do? They eat grass, and they poop. A lot. And who are attracted to cow manure? Flies! Do they come into the house, the flies, that is? They certainly do, and what do they do inside the house? They poop, of course, especially on white things. Like paper lamps, which can't be cleaned. I say no to paper lighting, flies are one of the reasons. We also have pets visiting now and then, and they run around both outside and inside, so no thanks. :D

I agree with every one of these points except for paper lamps because I love them and they're pretty easy to dust off and keep looking great. I actually had a nightmare last night that someone had gone into my home while I was away and replaced all my decor with checkerboard patterns, skiggly stuff and bubblecore horrors. It was so ugly I immediately woke up sweating and it took me a minute to calm my heart rate. I hate these trends so much, they totally creep me out.

Boucle sweaters were big in the 80s and every time i wore one, i caught the damn thing on something, so no way in hell would i pay $$$$$ for that in furniture. The mushroom thing is another no. First of all, the 70s called and they don't even want them back. Second, some of those mushrooms look too much like a certain something else that you really shouldn't have out on the kitchen counter -- though it would be super fun to hear Robin Williams riff on that, wouldn't it? :) Great video as always, DD.

Hey Daddy ;-), when I was growing up I remember my grandparents had a mushroom themed kitchen. They had mushroom wallpaper,. mushroom print towels and mushroom top flour and sugar ceramic canisters . After my grandpa died at 90 years ago the only thing unclaimed that was theirs were the mushroom canisters that they probably bought in the 70s, which I asked my mom to keep for me when I have my own place. I should be building my home within the next couple years, I'm currently 47, and still wondering how I'll make them work in my contemporary and very small space. The colors won't be a problem, but mushrooms don't really scream modern and I'm not really into mushrooms as a theme. They are only sentimental to finally feel like they are with me in some way. Could you make a video on using inherited items in modern spaces?

About the lime wash: you said in your video that you would allow it in a powder room on the condition that this room matches the style of the rest of your house. Do you have any advice (or maybe an existing video) on how to accomplish that? Right now they have a completely different vibe than the other rooms and it bothers me.

I did use 3 stacked open shelves but got not the same but similar mostly vintage baskets mostly with lids to fit on them. Would you do a video on whole house lighting based on design style? I’m building a house and all I’m seeing are a ton of sputnik lights and lighting with balls.
