It's not that the model is incomplete, it's that objective data doesn't translate into qualia. Given two identical events with 100.00% precision, you can have two unique experiences. Put simply, you can tell if a person is in a hot room, but you can't tell if that person is hot. You can try to infer that using objective data, but it will only ever be an inference. They could be sweating and be comfortable. Or they could be shivering and be hot. You can't tell, you can only ask.

That said, I've done ballet as a kid, and I have no issues with doing it really short-term in most shoes with any support; in protective footwear that I have at work I can do it basically at any time, which is fun because it freaks people out a bit.

This. If your shoes are painful, they don't fit. You should be able to walk fair distances on level ground without pain in any and all shoes. If you can't, they're the wrong shoe for you. Now, dress shoes aren't MEANT for that; it's likely to wear them out, but it shouldn't hurt. ADDENDUM: if you have tried all manner of shoe in all manner of scenes, you may have a joint problem or high arches and need to see a podiatrist.

one of the things I want to do when I get to my ideal weight is take up pole dancing. Right now, I still have so much mass that I get tired too quickly and start sweating like CRAZY. Still, I'm almost 50 lbs down, hopefully by next spring/summer I'll have lost another 50 and will be ready to learn!
