@@charo703 Yeah, I think they are just as afraid as anyone else, most of the injuries they have come from either hesitation or having an overconfident day where they wouldn't normally do something so out of their bounds. I think that the principles you learn on flat ground translate to big gaps and vert ramps and transition so you just know that the only way you are doing some tricks is you are going to have to take a slam and fuck up majorly once or twice. Everyone slips out when they start learning basic flat ground tricks, so I guess everyone assumes they are gonna slip out on bigger scale tricks and they have to have the courage to skate them anyways.

Knee pads aren't just used for impact. They're also used to slide down the ramp when falling to reduce friction. You ever see a vert skater miss a trick and slide out on their knees? The knee pads allow them to do that without ripping up their knees. Same with elbow pads. It's less about avoiding broken bones or whatever and more about allowing a way to safely bail out of a trick

I'm a tricker like not gymnastics I've competed in hooked and all that jazz. So once when I was just trying to get double full dub back out down on a spring floor I did it twice and then on the third try I bailed and landed on my neck and surprisingly I only got a concussion and cracked my skull but other than that I'm good and still tricking now. Sometimes get ptsd from it tho
