This is the worst kind of driver to come across in karting. It's one thing to have lapped traffic that is unaware you are on the lead lap, but it's another thing to push overtaking karts off into the grass. What do you guys make of this though?

I have a sad story, and I remember it whenever I see those karts. I only drove a kart once, a long time ago. I was maybe 11 years old on a school trip and no one took the time to explain anything other than safety equipment, the pedals and the steering wheel. The karts were very slow and underpowered too. So I liked racing games a lot and was really looking forward to it. When I got on the kart I was doing my best to drive the "optimal racing line" like I was a formula 1 driver or something. In my mind I probably was, lol. I was probably hyperfocused on this and didn't notice anyone else around me. I drove for less than 2 or 3 minutes when an instructor pulled me over, told me off and said I was maliciously cutting off the other kids (honestly I didn't even see them), and then denied any of my attempts to explain myself. So I had to sit alone on a bench for hours, trying not to cry while I watched all my friends have fun by themselves. Driving a kart was one of those things I'd always wanted to do until that point and never had a chance. When you're handling kids, please pay attention to them, they're not all trying to make trouble.. Oh, and preferably explain the damn rules clearly before the thing starts. That helps too. Something that looks obvious to an experienced person might be a completely unknown concept to a newbie.

Acknowledge your own pace and compare it to others on the track and if you understand that your pace may mismatch enough to the point where you may become lapped traffic, always be aware of approaching cars from behind. That being said, the guy probably realized that he may have done something wrong and will probably improve.

It’s just the adrenaline and competitiveness makes it really easy for you to get heated up and do something out of impulse and anger when that kind of stuff happens. I’m only talking about karts though. Definitely wouldn’t have done it when I drove in something like a Miata Cup.

Competitive karting is a thing, most folks will start their racing careers there and expand into full-blown cars once the fundamentals are down. Could see why someone slightly more dedicated doing some practice laps might get a bit pissed at the common traffic. Aah I remember the day I went carting with my GF and this mo-ron who went on three laps without letting me through even though he was being flagged to do so, pushed me against the wall when I was overtaking him and made me spin out. Well, I caught up to him again, and there was this really tight corner that was pretty much a U-turn that came from the longest straight in the track. I timed it to perfection and I didn't even try slowing down. Rear ended him so hard and his head snapped back so much that his visor lifted up and the track workers instead of black flagging me, they flagged him and only let him go after giving him a 3 lap lecture lmao not to mention the grin on their faces towards me when the race was done.
