Good Morning! I hope everyone is having a wonderful Thursday morning, this week is flying by! Here is my list of least favorite Chanel products, intended to help guide you through mediocre products. I realize that some of you will disagree with me on some of these choices and that's perfectly OK, we all have different preferences! Different opinions are WELCOME :) Let's help each other! xx

I am totally with you on the eye gloss. It is just "why?" to me. When they came out I was looking forward to it as I thought it was going to be this wet, glass look. Nope. I ended using mine as a lip balm. Then it ended being sold on Ebay. On a editorial, fashion photoshoot may work great, on a day to day basis, no.

I have tiny interlocking double c's running through my blood, and I agree with this list! Great video, Erin. And although this is a positive place, I think it's positive to help others decide which products might not work for them. Even though I rarely stray from Chanel, I'd like to see more videos like this re other brands.

Ugh...I was going to mention my regret not thinking you would possibly have it on your list...but you did! The travel makeup palette was one of my top Chanel regret purchases! The other difficulties I have are the matte eyeshadows being too try on my lids and the liquid eyeshadows (in darker colors) are harder for me to work with. You see your mistakes so much. But the lighter liquid eyeshadow shades work well. I think they are a good base. Thanks, Erin. :)

Hi Erin, I have a number of products that you mentioned. I'm working through the Chanel eye base and it's okay though I prefer MAC and ABH eye primers more, so won't replace the Chane one when I finish it. I have the Palette Essential in Eclat Solaire, which was applied at the counter by a visiting artist. I use two of the three products when I pull it out. Products like this are hard to make generic enough to appeal to the masses. It's not something I would recommend but I don't mind using it when I do. I bought the Ombre Premiere Gloss to experiment with and it just breaks apart anywhere on the eyelid. I use it in the summer as a highlighter from my browbone to upper cheekbone and on the decollete. I have the Duo Bronze et Lumiere in Clair and like it. I use the powder side to set the Les Beiges Water Fresh Tint and the other side as a highlighter. It was marketed as a light bronzer, which was misleading. One of the products in Chanel's line that I dislike is the cream pot eyeshadows. With the exception of New Moon, they dry up too quickly and apply inconsistently on me. New Moon is the only shade I've gotten to work. I prefer the cream shadows by Charlotte Tilbury and Tom Ford. We all have products that we wouldn't buy again, and I enjoyed seeing yours.

I’ve bought le palette essentielle in 390 ete (solaire). It has two highlighters and one lip/cheek tint. I love it so so much!! It works perfectly on my skintone and is easy to travel with. I just found out Chanel discontinued this specific pallet. I can’t buy it anymore from the Chanel website and I’m kind of sad about it. Thank you for another great video. Love watching your channel. Thanks for your honest opinion. I have tried the eye base and I agree it is not stellar . I am light skinned and mature and I bought the medium highlight and bronzer and it works well for me. I bought one palette essential 175 Rose Natural and it works well for me. I do not wear gobs of foundation so when we go up north for the weekends etc. I take this and blend the concealer well. Yes I would prefer it to be a tad lighter but I make it work. The blush and highlight work well. One of my worst purchases ever was a number of years ago when they brought out louder a levees . I bought 418 rose tempera . Ya it is too powdery dry then you put the gloss over top. Honestly the gloss is great alone but the product I can see why it made a quick exit. Not tried the brow snd not interested at all. One thing is Lisa Eldridge always uses a lipstick then puts a little on the cheeks of her models or herself to make the look cohesive. I would take a clean ring finger then dab on my cheeks. Just intensifies the colour and look. Anyway those are my thoughts .

I have the palettes essentielle in color 185 and it works absolutely perfectly for my caramel skin tone. If you are a woman of color with a medium to deeper skin tone, this could really work for you. I love to use the bright red blush not only for my cheeks, but for my lips to add a splash of color!

Hi Erin. I have the old version of the brow palette and I like it. Of course I have to use my Dior brow brush and dig in to make the color work. I also bought online the Palette Essentielle in 150 and I also find the colors are not a much for my skin. I tried to use the highlighter as a shadow but it creases a lot. The concealer is not a much for my skin color and the blush is too light for me. I have the blush/lip liquid lipstick and how I use it is put a quantity on the back of my hand and then take a brush and apply it. On my lips it feels too dry for me. There are also other products that I have purchased and don't use a lot like the Velvet sth you just mentioned which also feels dry on my lips. I will try it on my cheeks, I didn't know I could use it this way. Thank you very much for this video. It is always good to see products that haven't worked so as not to throw money and ordering online without testing first. I forgot to mention Le stylo ombre et contour. Now from this line I have five colors I think. One of the Le Nuit I think is too creamy and I cannot use it very well. But I had the Vague which dried out so fast, that it was broken inside and went down the drain after I used it for the third time. I don't think I had it for more than two months.

Awww - I really like my Rouge Allure Liquid Powder Lip. I like the applicator and the formula. It feels like nothing on the lips, so light and nourishing. Very balmy... rather like a matte lip oil - definitely a very casual look and it isn’t long lasting so it’s good that it’s easy to reapply. I do find the shades disappointing though. I’d actually buy more but I just can’t find another shade I like enough to part with my money. Nobody seems to talk about them though so I must be in the minority.

Hi Erin, Regarding eye primer, Chanel eyeshadow palettes used to be the worst IMHO, they used to fall out a lot and hard to blend. But in recent Months Chanel reformulated their eye palettes and they are performing better in fact fantastically and are long lasting too. There is no need for “this” primer use. Yes, I did buy one and returned it because of all reasons you mentioned 😀 Thanks for your video!

Hi Erin:) The brow palette I haven’t tried, it is generally not my type of product, but my favorite brow pencil ever is Chanel waterproof retractable brow pencil. The reason being a perfect shade, viz. 812, it’s cool but not too dark; there’s no orange or brown in it, it’s sooo rare. The formula is great, too. The glosses... ahh... they’re good for everything but the eyes😆 cheeks & lips. If I didn’t have the silver color (lunaire), I would probably pick up the new lavender one from this year’s Asian collection, just as a lip color, it’s so gorgeous... but there are just so many things & new releases from Chanel, there’s very little or no room for just pretty but not highly desirable

Erin, I'm glad I did not purchase the Chanel brow duo. I generally prefer a brow pencils for a fast easy application. On the other hand, I have the Concealer/ Blush/ Highlighter trio and I really like it! I use it mostly for travels to some beach destinations where I can just touch up here and there, put the creamy blush and highlighter on, and hit the beach!:-) (Ah, beach vacation!!) I like the fact that all of the products in it are creamy and can be easily applied with fingers. It is just so convenient and the quality is definitely there. As I said, I don't use it on a daily basis, but for me it is a perfect trio when I travel. Have a fashionable weekend!;-) xx

I love the LM eye sticks and also the BB ones, but the LM are better as I feel that they set and never budge! The eye gloss and the compact that you showed barely showed up on your skin!!! It was almost invisible. My favorite eye primer is the UD. It makes my eye shadow last all day. Lots of people also use the Mac painterly pots.

I have the palette essential in rose natural and I bought it intended as a make up top-up when I am out and about (it was actually my first ever Chanel buy - I'm new to the luxury make-up thing!) but I think it is perfect for a great-skin day as well when you don't want to wear a lot of make up. I do however think the concealer is a bit too dark for under eyes if you are around shade Beige 20-30, so it works well when I am tan, but I think it's better put to use as a foundation top-up later in the day - and I am hoping that this palette will become much more useful post-lockdown when I am back at work! The blush is amazingly pigmented but the highlighter does take a little work to product a decent effect. Overall I think I would give it 6.5/10!

Oooh, I knew you would mention the eyeshadow primer, I have to step in here since I’m much older than you. I use Clinique eye moisturizer with the CHANEL shadow primer and it smooths my lines to perfection, I ordered a back up because I’m almost out.

I agree. Primer is a must on my mature, hooded lids. In the past, I was able to use concealer. Now I must use a primer specifically.

Hi Erin Nicole. Thank you for this review. I have the same opinion on most of the products but I would like to mention that my experience with the stylo ombre et contour is different since I love this product and use it as an eye contour (in the crease or under lower lashes) that helps define the eye and enhances the eyeshadow. I even apply it alone for a smokey everyday look, but I do agree that it’s very specific to each person’s taste/style. However, I own 5 of these pens, some are 14 months old ant I have to say that they never dried out or became hard to apply.... I’m really sorry that you had such a disappointing experience with product. All in all your video is extremely informative and helpful... ☺️

I love Chanel blush (Malice & Elegance) and highlighter (Rosy Gold). Coco Mademoiselle is my top perfume, and I quite like their Le Vernis colours (but only for toes. They don’t last, but then again, there is no nail polish in existence that lasts longer than a few hours on my fingernails). I used to love their glosses but then I developed an allergy to beeswax which means I can’t use them. I’d love to use their eyeliners and eyeshadows but there’s some ingredient in their eye products that irritates my eyes like crazy! I’ve returned every single eye product of theirs (even though I want to love them!)

I was fascinated by the Eye Gel as well, but had some concerns it would smudge the eyeshadow; I'm glad I didn't purchase it (and this year, I saw the iridescent colour in this little pot, and it looked so beautiful; I was hoping it were a single eyeshadow, but then saw they came out again with a version of this eye gel 🙄! OH MY GOD i bought the Palette Essential a while back, i love the concept but the blush was just too berry toned and the concealer was just too beige and the light was too pink toned... I was so sad after a while because i couldn't really use it...

I really don't like this either. I cannot use the concealer/foundation. It just cakes on my dry skin. I also feel the blush is too light and fades quickly. IDK...I keep trying to make it work....sort of like Mean Girls 😂 It's not gonna happen 😆😆

Ahh eye gloss. The reason I wouldn't have went for it is that I went for it (back in like 2001) and I feel old going for it again. In my case it was a purple Stila eye gloss that I loved because I saw it on Cameron Diaz and my eyes are similar. I actually did wear it back in the day. It wasn't a bad product but I had to re-blend every couple hours which was ok because I wore it solo with mascara. One product I wish Stila were made is their 4 pan gloss pallette. It was what would now be considered a sheer glossy lipstick. The colors worked perfectly together and it came with an actually usable lip brush. If they came out with that again I would buy it.

Hi Erin, when I saw the title of this post, I was ready to jump right on my sassy horse, being an avid lover of Chanel. I have to say, I agree with your choices with exception to the contour Éclat. I own 3 and love the effortless application for when I need to get my makeup done quickly for work. I use them as eyeliners and quickly blend into the lid. I have noted your comments on them drying out though. The eyeshadow stylos Chanel previously did, which I own 3 of them as well, are far superior and have never dried out. The powder lipstick was a surprise. I own only one. A red with orange undertone. I love it and now you have warned me; I'm going to use it up quick. All the other products you mentioned, I never bothered buying because I never saw their use for me, personally. I find their brow gel pretty bad to. The wand is too big for any precision so, I use Benefit Gimme brow instead. Oh yes, I don't like the ink lipsticks either. I own one and hate the way it wears off once I have eaten. It looks terrible. Thanks for sharing and giving us the heads up 😊

I bought the 150 palette and I have a medium skin tone. I found it with a lot of discount and decided to give it a try out of curiosity (saw a couple of videos with Lucia Pica using it). I use it mostly when travelling and the highlighter is too hard.Another product to add to the fails is the Le Volume ultra-noir 90. I get a lot of fall out during the day, doesn't hold the curl, I cannot beleive my Essence mascara perfoms way better!I am trying to use it up not to throw my money but definately a NO,gourgeous packaging tho :)

Agree about the contour stick. Was dry to begin with but even though I kept lid on tightly it is too dry. Only way it works is to put some on my hand and mix with ABH eye primer

I honestly watched this to see what you said about the eyeshadow primer and tbh I just bought it yesterday and I love it more than when I was using concealer and a regular face primer on my lids (the best combo to combat my oily lids but it would still crease) and I wore that eyeshadow primer yesterday and my eyeshadow never dulled, it looked just like I applied it 8 hours earlier before I took it off But I have extremely oily eyelids and I have a huge problem with creasing no matter what and if I use powder on my lids, my eyeshadow doesn’t blend properly (despite what a lot of makeup artist’s have said) but that’s personally on me But I used that eyeshadow primer lightly and blended it and then set it with Elf’s Radiant Finish setting spray and it stayed flawless all day

Of your list I only owned the eyebrow duo, and the eye glosses, I agree they deserve to be on your list. I loved the eye glosses but cannot get them to perform for normal use. I would add the Rouge Allure Chanel Camelia Blanc (327), it is the only product I have purchased from Chanel that made me mad, it broke off the bullet and is mashed in the case, I need to use a lipstick brush to get the product now. My list of Chanel products I love is much longer, in my experience, only a few duds.

Last year I bought a quad of lip glosses in a compact. It was the worse formulation. Hard and waxy with no color payoff. It was so pretty in the compact with 4 flowers. I should have returned it.

"it really doesn't do anything for me at all..." 🙃🤣 With that statement there, you are Princess Luxury, the newest Disney Princess. But that line was very relatable. I almost bought that travel palette. I'm glad I talked myself out of it. I've come to believe limited edition palette, {e.g. travel palette, holiday box sets) of the one all end all, are not of the same quality as their luxury line. In paying attention in where those are made versus where the actual products in the line are made. I've noticed the same in the Estee Lauder Luxury box set at Christmas. I made purchases of two consecutive EL Holiday box set and will no longer do so. The only bonus was getting a full size ANR bottle but I don't think the eyeshadow sets/blushes/lipsticks were of the same quality as their actually EL product line.

I don't consider this type of video to be negative... as long as you're giving your viewers a "why" you're providing valuable information and it's up to us to decide whether or not those products are right or wrong for our needs! We all have different preferences, and personally I find it interesting to learn about makeup and skincare this way. For example, I still want to try one of those Liquid Powder lipsticks... it's a formula I'm intrigued by! 😊

I’ve aleays found the packaging of cream/pressed powder products such as the eyeshadows and blushes to be so fragile and break easily with use. They should definitely improve it.

great video. I do like the lip check blush, but I only use it as a check product. I'm not a fan of how it feels on the lips, but I do like it on the checks for my minimal makeup looks.

I have the Palette Essentiel in beige clair, not the best formula to me, but I love the blush shade, is so perfect and natural on me, the highlighter is ok, but the concealer has no coverage, it looks sheer white, not flattering on me, so most of the time it's just a pretty mirror I always carry on my purse...

i have that irridescent duochrome eyegloss, i most often use that as highlight or on the lips (over lipstick it looks AMAZING) , as it adds this magical layer and color shift!:) i do agree that it just doesn't work on the eyes, sadly:(

The worst Chanel I ever purchased was the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua (cream) Foundation in a compact. It was disconnected soon after it launched. It costed over $60 and the packaging was a total fail. The seal popped itself open so the product dried down within 3 months and I was not the only one with same issue. I tried to return it thinking i got a broken one but the sales at Chanel told me all have the same issue😕 Overall it was a 1/10 from me. 👎🏻 I don’t own any of the products u mentioned here thank God😆

So far the only thing from Chanel I’d rebuy is the brow stylo… The lipsticks are not any better than any other brand (including drugstore), the vitalumiere foundation is trash, the blush is chalky, the le volume mascara didn’t work for me, and the eyeshadows aren’t pigmented enough. I’m so disappointed in Chanel.

I have the essentialle palette isn beige medium, it’s actually pretty good I came to purchase it, because a chanel employee recommended it to me and so far its really good it can get messy hence why I try to becareful on not to swirl it so much
