The whole block was warped and when the pump blew I had to rip the whole engine out and put a new one in with a Banks turbo for 5k. It really put a dent in my savings, but I'm starting to recover. When I have the extra money down the road I want to put running boards, a 3" body lift (I think they work well on OBS') and black AM Baja's (16x10 -25) wrapped in 235/85 Falken Wildpeaks.

My 03 Super Crew F150 with the 5.4 triton. Man did that thing take some beatings. It held up, but it cost a lot of maintenance to keep it that way. Got to a point where it was like every week was something else and I was paying hundreds a month to keep it running, not to mention I did my own maintenance and those engines are a nightmare to work on. had to get rid of it. On that engine you had to remove all the fuel rails to change spark plugs. Even changing oil was an 5 hour ordeal because of the placement of the filter. Fuck the 5.4

I'm very surprised about the f150. Thought those engines were reliable. But damn spark plugs are important. I remember Fueller made a video on the 6.0 powerstroke. Not the best engine. A lot of guys had that in the custom offsets team. Not surprised at the explorer, dodge and Hummer.

My dad has a 05 F-150 with the 5.4, no issues with anything. Even after 200k miles and 2 car accidents that totaled both of the cars that hit him (he only had to replace the push bar, no damage to the truck besides a broken headlight). Oh and knowing 7 6.0l powerstroke owners, no issues.

Don't forget the second gen 24valve cummins also had a line of bad blocks manufactured in Brazil that would break do to the engine heat over time. The tall tale sign of this is the exhaust manifold would crack and then a few months later a large crack in the block would form. Me and my uncle had to fully build an engine for it because that happened and cummins even said the Brazilian blocks are junk. Then four years ago we swapped the original 5-speed out for an aftermarket 6-speed which this past year we blew out hauling a boat since the transmission was as basic as can be but the engine was bulked up.

My family has owned 3 10th/11th gen fords. One came from the rust belt and had surface rust on the frame but nothing structural and almost none on the body. It had a 4.6 and ran insanely great at 200k miles. The other two were 5.4 but different models of 5.4. One was the older 5.4 which we did have spark plug issues with. The newer 5.4 hasn't given us any problems. They are great trucks. With that being said, they can be a gamble for the reasons stated in the video.

Yea you can tell when they were talking about the f150s and the 4.6 having spark plug ejection problems it was only in the 5.4 first off and then they fixed it after the first 3 model years because it didn’t have enough spark plug threads and they were aluminum so they stripped easy but they added more and made it not aluminum in 2003 so you can tell they aren’t doing their research here

Ford triton spark plug problems is mainly with the first generation of triton heads, there wasn’t enough threads in the heads to keep spark plugs in the head, they’d seize and out goes the plug, later trucks can have spark plugs stick, but if you stick a bit of copper anti seize on the threads you are good
@ryanhealy30744 жыл бұрын
I'd definitely say this list is spot on. I owned an 11th Gen F150 with a 5.4, paid more than double the purchase price in repairs over two years, and it still needed a whole new top and front end of the engine (about 8k from the shop) when I finally got rid of it. Literally the reason why the "lifted Ford" stereotype exists.
