Use a magnet to magnetize them if you want. How hard can it be?

PC technician here of 23 years .. I recently was gifted one of these, maybe not this exact model but a very very similiar looking alternative (USB C charging, leds near the tip) and I was very skeptical, it does feel very loose, the tips aren't magnetic and don't hold screws well even after magnetising them (which was my main issue) and very occasionally when you try and turn something manually without pressing the button, if theres too much tension, it will stop the auto feature from working and you have to leave it for a short while before it allows the button press. However, on that note it is very usable. I addressed the magnet issue by taking a couple of the little rectangle magnets you get in laptop lids and popping them on the shaft just where the tip sits in and it seems to work spot on. Even though it is cheap and I use different tips (the same ones in the box that are in the video) I can't see myself not using it.

I got it for around 19€ on ebay with 2x AAA model and I actually really like it. I'm very impressed at the quality for the price I paid, It feels like it would cost around 50 - 75€ instead. But tbh from what I found this is a xiaomi clone, but it's a pretty good one. I don't see a reason for the LED's onfront you are never going to be really using this in a very dark environment anyway so it's useless and consumes power. I know there is a lithium version of it but I like the AAA model. Why? because you can just use rechargeable batteries and replace them whenever they go bad if ever. So no it doesn't suck ass you likely just used horrible AAA batteries. Try rechargeable ones because unlike alkaline, Ni-MH can deliver way more current which is probably what this exactly needs.

I thought the dual power means you can turn the bit by pressing the button, or simply turn it slightly and the bit turn automatically, like the one Sorin from Electronics Repair School use?

The TRY is sold for $15 in my country and it comes with 2xAAA batteries. Is it worth it with all its shortcomings?

This looks like more or less exactly the item that i need. Or maybe one i don't need but more fitting than the ones i need even less. I have an endless supply of AAA NiMH cells (Eneloop-like) and a German made smart charger that i've had for 25 years. I prefer this to the "rechargeable" version which probably loses charge all by itself. Out of power? Chuck the cells in the charger, drop in ones out of the charger, done, no need to wait for the driver to charge. I also already have a good collection of 4mm bits. I also don't care about the LED light because well it's not like my manual screwdrivers have one, and it's shining when you already don't need it anyway, when you have it already engaged with the screw, why do you need light then? You just need to have good workspace lighting, no way around that. It looks to me like these bits are not magnetised from the factory but should be magnetisable by yourself. Some cheap electric screwdrivers like these from what i heard are backdriveable, which is bad, since you can't start or finish screws by hand, as the motor would simply spin in reverse. This "dual power" might not seem like a feature to you, but it really is. Because none of them have a lot of torque - nor would i want it to, because when doing small items like phones and laptops, you need careful control or you're going to strip everything out. I already have a high torque screwdriver, one with 6mm bits - but i can't use it when doing fine things like these, because it will ruin everything. But the form factor does seem pretty awkward, like there isn't a good hold that you can use both for starting/torquing down and for motorised operation. Less backlash in the mechanism would be nice, but i don't think i can get both that and a clutch against backdriving, i think it's the clutch responsible for that backlash. I just doubt a solution is mechanically possible. Like even if you work out some sort of precision assembly that can only be done by Japanese, it'll still be subject to wear, so what's the point. I also don't really know if it's really worth it, or whether just good manual drivers with spinning tops are more of a pleasure to use. I mean no i wish they were more magical and did all the work for me, but given the drawbacks of these motorised screwdrivers... Anyway i'm definitely not about to buy an expensive one of these, but this might just the one to... well, try.

I picked up one of these when i was ordering some parts anyway and it seemed to be cheap for what it is, knowing full well I dont actually need one because I already have a makita 8v that I love so much I ended up modifying it to suit my needs. Thought at the time was that this would be smaller and actually fit into places the makita wouldnt, and that it would be easier to make a small kit with this, a usb soldering iron, scalpel and some other stuff in a pencil case for easy access and travelling. Yeah no, I came to the same exact conclusion that you did. Its sloppy, too weak, runs on batteries I cant charge, has no light and at this point the whole experience scared me away from getting the "better" models where they are supposed to solve a few of these issues. But hey, at least it looks kinda sexy with its brushed aluminium shell right? I would guess that the people who are happy with this product are those who have never experienced anything better. A good hand tool beats a bad power tool, this is no different.
