as awesome as the video is, lets not forget what its in memory of. this wreck was devastating, and cost an engineer his life. remember John Luther ("Casey") Jones, as the hero who stayed with his train, trying to stop it as best he could.

You're part right. Yes an air hose did burst, but 2 freight trains were in the same siding, hence why one of the freights' tail end fouled the main - the siding wasn't long enough to fit both freights, so the 2 trains would have to "saw" north or south to clear the main for any oncoming train. They freight had already made one "saw" to clear the south switch so that a northbound train could enter the station then back onto another siding to clear the main for Casey still approaching southbound. While the freights were in the middle of "saw"-ing to clear the north switch for Casey is when the air hose burst, and the rest is history. Casey knew about the situation at Vaughn that night - it was in his orders. He likely took it for granted that the North switch would already be cleared and he would have plenty of time to slow down, hence why he potentially ignored flagman Newberry's lantern signal on the ground as he thundered by. He didn't know anything was wrong until he ran over the torpedo and saw the caboose marker lights, by then too late to stop. Do your own research, bub.

If truth be told, even I did not know that it was the 122nd anniversary of the death of Casey Jones, one of the best railroad engineers in American history. Even so, Illinois Central Railroad steam engine Number 382 was the last steam train Casey Jones drove after Steam Engine Number 638.
