The Wren's Day Castlegregory

The Wrens Day has been celebrated in Castlegregory and the west of Ireland for centuries The photos in this video are of various wren groups from the parish over an 85 year period. A couple of these photos may have been taken using glass plates by the renowned photographer Ned Moore of Kilcummin. The three tunes in this video were recorded in Castlegregory by local musicians in 1980.This music is part of our tradition and culture which has been passed down form generation to generation.
