Because of the title, I first thought that an avalanche was about to come. I listened carefully and looked: the snow still sounded well frozen and looked settled. Then, luckily, none came. But why the title?

Ah, no, no avalanches here haha. We literally took the wrong path since the snow was covering the hiking trail. This is on the skyline trail on Mt. Rainier.

@reidmcpherson Cool area, I just looked at some pictures again. I think I saw Mt. Rainier as a child. 50 years ago. We went on summer vacation from Vancouver Island to Washington, Idaho and Montana and drove back home. Our "home" was Winnipeg, Manitoba for a year before we returned to Germany.

35+ years hiking and climbing in Glacier Park...... Encountered sooooo many snowfields to cross Measure every step. I slipped once in all those years and luckily survived a 100 yard slide excelerating quickly - ending in a rock field below. Scared the hell out of me. Don't know how I escaped without many broken bones. Occurred when I was 55 years old...but I still had my college running back moves to quick hop through the stone field and miraculously not get hurt. My heart rate took a half hour to settle down
