I'll never forget hearing Noel Edmonds doing the weekly chart countdown on his Radio 1 breakfast show, the week this first hit No 1. 'At Number Three [whatever it was]... chorus of "OOH AR! OOH AR!" ... ' 'At Number Two [whatever] ,,, chorus of "OOH AR! OOH AR!" ... ' "And at Number One! ... [played the record].

They used to live in the flat under a friend of mine In Bristol . We used to dance around to this after a few jerry-cans of cider from the Coronation Tap on Blackboy Hill.

Wonderful! A zummerzet love story to the tune of Melanie's brand new key (pair of rollerskates). I bought the combine harvester album (albeit in 1981). Seems incredible that era does...steeleye span was at the height of their popularity, as well as Abba, Queen and Slade......though music was changing......only six months after Combine Harvester was first on TOTP the world witnessed the Sex Pistols' debut with Anarchy in the UK towards the end of November (3 days after my 10th birthday ....lol.....yet at the time I never even knew......oooh)

My partner is very Bristolian and has a strong Somerset accent. I'm from Birmingham so the less said about my accent the better... Anyway I love it when he sings this song for me. And he actually knows the remaining Wurzels. Which is odd.

These lyrics make me laugh out loud 😂😂😂😂😂hilarious. Saying that no wonder she’s avoiding him if he drove his tractor through her haystack. And if he threw his pitchfork at my dog he wouldn’t be getting my acres. He’d be getting his pitchfork back. Sideways. 🤣🤣🤭🤭🤭 🍑

It always amazes me how that tuba plays itself without anyone blowing in it or anything, 'cause the guy supposed to be playing it is singing, instead! Don't think the guy playing the squeeze box is really playing either!

The "Top of the Pops" series was mote often than not lip-synced. So most artists didn't actually play their music live on it. A lot wanted to sing live though, and often did. So there you go.

@@sirdiesalot2975 Funnily enough, for the past few years, The Wurzels always lip sync this particular track at their live shows. It's that stupid dance, remix version, and they mime along to it. It's only with that one song though. they do all the rest of their songs live. It's annoying, I'd love to hear them performing the proper song live once more.
