According to Mulder's driver's license, he is 6 feet tall and his birthday is October 13, 1961. This is a personal favourite for both Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny who spent most of the shoot in hysterics. According to Vince Gilligan, the writer f this episode Star Wars: is his favourite movie, so he included it in this episode.

What?? NO. WAY. Darin Morgan played Eddie? I'm learning this only 27 years after the first time I saw the episode? Of course, you know that Lone Gunman Melvin Frohike is played by Tom Braidwood who is a second unit director on the show.

These humorous episodes are great. The fact that we don't get them very often, a couple per season, makes them even better. It's hard to write good comedy, but The X-Files had good writers. Of course this show also had good actors that weren't afraid to be silly.

Brilliant episode. Vince Gilligan was one of the show's best writers. In case you didn't already know, he eventually went on to make a series you might have heard of called Breaking Bad. Also, Darin Morgan played the flukeman in season 2's The Host. I never noticed the bit where the H falls off the wall until tonight, and I've seen the episode countless times. Such a nice little moment.

It took a while, but Vince Gilligan overtook Darin Morgan as my favourite writer for The X-Files. What tipped it for me in the end was Gilligan's versatility. Morgan wrote great and funny episodes, while Gilligan did great and funny, great and tense, great and creepy...

Hey Jules!💜 It is hard to rank the X-Files episodes, since they come in a few different varieties. It can almost be like comparing apples and oranges, as it were. Amongst the comedic episodes this, and Jose Chung are my favorites. But in seriocomic I still hold Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose in high regard, with Beyond the Sea as a favorite in a paranormal category. At least in the episodes you have seen so far. There are other categories and other favorites - I find many episodes just plain well done, and ranking them together, as a whole, is difficult - to me, anyway. But this is a classic, and your mood throughout is awesome - a pure mood elevating reaction!💖 At 7:41, and, even better, at 10:09,followed by the 12:00 moment ... it is Always so great to see you truly enjoying moments within the shows, and this one here, could be your very best reaction throughout any episode so far.🥰 Mulder and Scully are full on in this one, too. His disgust at being fooled again, 2:17, and her sly smile as he exits the room!😅 6:57 - Should we be picking out china patterns?🤣 Your comments, at 3:18, 6:35, and 18:40 - as you thrilled to the twists in the tale (tail?... apologies)😂 But my favorite bit, after all the laughter and great interactions, was Scully and Mulder at the end, as she tries to boost him a bit, and he seems a bit remorseful - Not a loser,, but no Eddie Van Blundht, signalling, each to the other, the wishes and genuine emotions behind what went on.. This is a long after comment, but I post just to let you know I think this was a most excellent reaction video. Your laughter throughout is refreshing. I hope you are having a grand Tuesday evening - or whatever is occurring when you see this - Jules.🤗💜😊 This was a joy! Thank you. 😉

I'm behind on my Jules X-Files reactions and need to do some major catching up, but I couldn't let this one go by without watching it. It's just too funny! Written by the wonderful writer Vince Gilligan, who's written some other favorite episodes of mine (especially "Paper Hearts")... and then you've got X-Files writer Darin Morgan (who wrote "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose," among other clever episodes) playing Eddie, who is hilarious. And you've got David Duchovny getting to play Mulder as well as Eddie pretending to be Mulder... it's just such a super fun episode. I especially give David major kudos because you can tell when he's Eddie, based on the smallest things that make him different from Mulder -- from his posture, to his facial expressions depending on what people say to him... it's all so good. When he talks to Amanda in the hospital as Eddie playing Mulder, he looks so forlorn, listening to her talk about what a loser Eddie is. And then you've got Eddie as Mulder in Skinner's office, which is hilarious. "You spelled 'Federal Bureau of Investigation' wrong." 🤣🤣🤣 One of my favorites is when he's looking around Mulder's office, just shaking his head, like, "People think I'M a loser, but this Mulder guy is weird." LOL! And every once in a while I'll randomly say a la Eddie: "F... B... I..." because it makes me laugh. A classic X-Files episode, for sure, and definitely a fan favorite. So glad you liked it! And see? No major trauma even though the title was innocuous. 😉 What a relief, right? 😄

Sherry!! I loved this episode SO DAMN MUCH! That part where the H fell off, I had to watch it several times over and over! It was just such a well done episode. Darin is BRILLIANT 🤣 And yes, we had a cute title but the episode wasn't horrendous. WINNER!

This can get lost in all the other aspects of the episode, but Eddie isn't just a "loser"; he isn't merely contemptible due to personal ineptitude. He's a downright terrible person. He attacked two officers, locked Mulder up, scammed the government to live off his dead father's pension, and... RAPED FIVE WOMEN. Again: one can overlook this, since we don't have shapeshifters in our world, but I presume if we did, people would quite universally find what Eddie did abhorrent. Just mentioning that very explicitly, since you didn't dwell on that at all ^^"...

Wow. I'll bet you're a blast to be around. Thank goodness we have you here with your infallible moral compass to remind us that we shouldn't be laughing; this episode is dealing with very serious, possibly triggering subject matter and should not have been written so lightly. @@gibsongirl2100 What even is this comment? Eddie is terrible. Are you trying to be too?
@VestinVestin3 ай бұрын
@@zammmerjammer The best part is that I've debated cushioning that comment by stressing how the episode is great and hilarious, and my censure is aimed squarely at the fictional character and not the depiction. However, it started sounding so condescending, that I'd only be buying clarity at the cost of presuming the reader to have roughly the level of intellectual sophistication of the lady who thought she got impregnated by Luke Skywalker ;). An ironic echo, don't you think? Much like Mulder, I'm somewhat of an asocial eccentric who does not for a moment wish to have the sociability of humble Eddie the janitor.

@@zammmerjammer I'm saying lighten the hell up, for God's sake! It was written as comedy - many not-so-upstanding characters and losers have been the inspiration for laughs. Comedies have been written with Hitler as the target; should we stop to comment that we know Hitler was a thoroughly despicable human being and we shouldn't be mocking or laughing? I guess with latest generation, the answer is, "yes".

Soooo funny, I watched this episode with my friend (a first time watcher) two days ago, only to find your video one day later! 😂 But as I was on my way home and had to get off the train I couldn't write a comment immediately. Well, first of all I really liked this episode because it is so funny and I really like David's acting as you can immediately tell it's actually Eddie. Also the nearly-kissing scene let me freak out when I first watched it. On one hand it was very nice to see they would hang out together, then Scully telling the story of Marcus who wanted to try to kiss her, and then Eddie trying the same (and Scully realizing this 🤣 ) but on the other hand, I teally didn't want them to kiss, for Eddie to "steal" their first kiss. 🙈🙈🙈 Luckily Mulder barged in last second and I always wondered what he might gave thought about the sight in front of him. I moreover am still wondering what exactly he wanted to say by stating he isn't an Eddie van Blundht either after Scully told him he is not an idiot. What does he mean? Of course ge is not, Eddie is a terrible person, using the lives and/or success of others for himself. Mulder would never do such things... So thanks again for your video,I had a great time watching it! ☺️❤️

One of my favs. Love the acting and it's just so funny. Also the missing H is a reference to David and his father. His father spelled the name Ducovny whereas David spells it Duchovny. His father removed the H because he was teased about mispronunciations while serving in the army. When David's parents divorced David put the H back in as a kind of FU to his father lol. His brother doesn't use the H but his sister did (before she married).

This episode, for me, is a top 10. It was funny and even the little details (as you pointed out as well...) were funny! I do think, though, that EvB's confidence is not in his ability with women, but in his disguises. If he has a miscue, for example, as one of the other men, the women would be more likely to forgive it, as it is not a "usual" thing. But if he has the same misstep as EvB, then they are more likely to call for help, or at the very least, get away from him. I agree, though, that Agent Mulder sees EvB as something of a charmer (hence his comment to Agent Scully at the end)! When I first saw this episode, the beginning scene questioning the mom floored me! I was hooked for the rest of the episode!!! This was fun, and thank you for making it even more enjoyable!!
