I wish this was a series that had succeeded. I read from Vince Gilligan, he believed it’s “failure” taught him a lot. They were fun characters and their first episode in season 5 proved they could carry a show. I think if the show had released in the middle of season 7 instead of season 8, it may have been successful.

Too much dependence on comedy and the "oh look at the nerds" cuteness. It needed to stay true to the X files .
@seanyonthemic Жыл бұрын
@@gusgrizzel8397 but it wasn’t the X Files. They weren’t X Files investigators or paranormal investigators. They were reporters on anything involving the truth and much of that was conspiracy driven in a comedic setting. I’m glad it was set a part.

@gusgrizzel8397 Жыл бұрын
@@seanyonthemic I think the producers just decided to let the characters be the big draw, and certainly they were, to a point. The characters were developed in the X Files, and yet, so many good stories could have been done with their series. I really don't care for most comedy, and they came from a science fiction drama series, not comedy. Their quirkiness and subtle overtones were great, and there were so many things that could have been done, but so many times, the owners take the lazy way out.

Too bad the producers didn't have faith in the 3 characters as originally presented on the X-Files, but felt the need to add the dumb sidekick and the femme fatale. They should have just had the 3 guys. That's it. That's all. If you want to add characters, do it slowly, over time. Have them slowly present their friends and family, maybe a nosy neighbor. I was so excited when the show came out, but after the first episode it was clear to me where this was going. Straight to Stinktown.

"wire work... you just can't stick actors in them and fly around the room.." I have to disagree with this as I've seen countless times where people with little to no experience do wire work with minimal training on set. granted it was only the women/ models who were allowed to get away with this as the men had to have some prior training and experience to do the "stunt." I've done it and it was pretty trivial.

@hbdragon885 күн бұрын
Who wrote that? When I search “The Last Jihad” it shows a book by Joel C. Rosenberg but it was published in 2002. Besides, the inspiration for McVeigh was from a scene in The Turner Diaries. And when it comes to ‘coincidences’ I think nothing can top the novella “Futility” being published in 1898 featuring a large passenger ship hitting and iceberg and sinking.

Honestly, these characters were absolutely perfect, but the story lines on their show were often terrible. (Remember the super intelligent monkeys or going undercover as tango dancers?) I knowt he show was supposed to have a goofy parody feel to it, but at a certain point it just gets dumb. It's not a surprise that they only got one season, its just tragic that the characters and actors didn't get the better run they deserved. At least they got a noble death and a decent sendoff on the X-Files.
