I wish this was a series that had succeeded. I read from Vince Gilligan, he believed it’s “failure” taught him a lot. They were fun characters and their first episode in season 5 proved they could carry a show. I think if the show had released in the middle of season 7 instead of season 8, it may have been successful.
@thebasedgodmax1163 Жыл бұрын
I honestly thought Unusual Suspects in s5 was a back door pilot for the show. had no idea the spin off released during season 8., thought it was around 5 or 6.

This show was an underrated gem. Had so much potential. Just needed an overarching story every once in awhile. Unless it was going for a procedural
@gusgrizzel83975 жыл бұрын
Too much dependence on comedy and the "oh look at the nerds" cuteness. It needed to stay true to the X files .
@seanyonthemic Жыл бұрын
@@gusgrizzel8397 but it wasn’t the X Files. They weren’t X Files investigators or paranormal investigators. They were reporters on anything involving the truth and much of that was conspiracy driven in a comedic setting. I’m glad it was set a part.

@@seanyonthemic I liked the Lone Gunmen in the XFiles series. But the separate series needed some better writing.
@seanyonthemic Жыл бұрын
@@gusgrizzel8397 I would agree to a point. I think it was getting there. The finale and pilot episode are pretty great
@gusgrizzel8397 Жыл бұрын
@@seanyonthemic I think the producers just decided to let the characters be the big draw, and certainly they were, to a point. The characters were developed in the X Files, and yet, so many good stories could have been done with their series. I really don't care for most comedy, and they came from a science fiction drama series, not comedy. Their quirkiness and subtle overtones were great, and there were so many things that could have been done, but so many times, the owners take the lazy way out.

They are/were the better part of the X-Files. Apparently someone panicked and dropped the ball. The Lone Gunmen had at least seven seasons if someone had thought it through. Pissed me off when the show was canceled.

Good to see The Lone Gunmen again in the latest (new) X-Files. Supposed to be reviving them. As long as they make their series more like Twilight Zone type thing.

I did not know there was any such a thing as a 'lone gunman' series or I would have been there all the time.

The pilot episode had an airplane set to crash into the WTT but the lone gunmen stopped it in times. It was within the same timeframe as the real 9/11 and it was a bad coincident.

Oh, there are example from the 80s in newspapers and comic books depicting WTC demise caused by two planes impacts. There is also one showing WTC buildings half destroyed and nazi flag on the ruins.
@paulojalaska68965 жыл бұрын
But none of these stuffs from the 80's were so accurate in your quotes, like this ep: "depends on who your terrorists are... the Cold War is over John with no clear enemy to stockpile against the arms markets flat, but bring down a fully load 727 into the middle of New York City and you will find a dozen of tin-pot dictators all over the world just clamoring to take responsibility and begging to be smart bombed."

+Jonny Parker Yes, just to let other's know like the interview says "Jump the Shark" serves has the series finale for The cancelled "The Lone Gunmen" series even though it's one of the final episodes of the x-files. That and the two episodes before it "Unusual Suspects" and "Three of a Kind" serve has a two part prequel to actual "The Lone Gumen" spin off series, showing a love interest for Byer's as well as how they met Mulder.

Too bad the producers didn't have faith in the 3 characters as originally presented on the X-Files, but felt the need to add the dumb sidekick and the femme fatale. They should have just had the 3 guys. That's it. That's all. If you want to add characters, do it slowly, over time. Have them slowly present their friends and family, maybe a nosy neighbor. I was so excited when the show came out, but after the first episode it was clear to me where this was going. Straight to Stinktown.

"wire work... you just can't stick actors in them and fly around the room.." I have to disagree with this as I've seen countless times where people with little to no experience do wire work with minimal training on set. granted it was only the women/ models who were allowed to get away with this as the men had to have some prior training and experience to do the "stunt." I've done it and it was pretty trivial.

Honestly, these characters were absolutely perfect, but the story lines on their show were often terrible. (Remember the super intelligent monkeys or going undercover as tango dancers?) I knowt he show was supposed to have a goofy parody feel to it, but at a certain point it just gets dumb. It's not a surprise that they only got one season, its just tragic that the characters and actors didn't get the better run they deserved. At least they got a noble death and a decent sendoff on the X-Files.
