I think for common people, social media is a net negative, but with much of the job of journalism being to report your interpretation of world events to the masses, social media is a pretty important vehicle for them to use.

The biggest issue I have with many black owned sites and fanbase is the name. Why do I want to go to a site called fanbase. It sounds like it's supposed to be for music. It doesn't give the impression of social networking. And many other sites always seem to be very trendy names that won't be in existence in a couple years. I hate when DJs and other folks name themselves after some trending word and then when that phrase goes out of style. What do you have? You know how many DJ turnts, fleek, and littys there are?
