@@road_not_taken which is the best drivers car in this segment?
@road_not_taken3 жыл бұрын
Hi @@vasanthsandeep , In my opinion, CSUVs will always be a notch below sedans and hatchbacks for being the perfect driver's car. To give you an example, even the EcoSport (currently the favourite driver's car in CSUV segment) feels top heavy compared a small nimble hatchback like the Polo or even a family friendly sedan like the Honda City. Among the CSUVs, I'd say the EcoSport is the most sporty but it's not comparable to a sedan or a well-tuned hatch. I hope this answers your question:)

@@vasanthsandeep Unfortunately, sedans are a dying breed in India. If you want fun to drive, I'd honestly recommend you to consider a used BMW 320d. I've seen 2014 models change hands for 13.5-14.5 lacs. If you are not comfortable with used cars, your only options are to go with a new Honda City or wait for the Vento replacement in 2022. I'd personally choose the latter and use this time to grow my money as it'll be expensive than the current Rapid. PS: Vento and Rapid are good cars but they are too old for them to be relevant today, it makes sense to wait till early 2022.

I see lot of audience appreciating your genuine review. Ofcourse, this is not a very good review, but it is decent. XUV300 is one among the 5 star rated cars. To start with, none of the features are going to save us at the peak times, end of the it is only build quality does. Instead of promoting feature full cars, kindly promote the cars which have strong build quality. If you go for looks, mileage and biggerboot (which don’t save your life) and buy 3 star rated cars we might end up somewhere in hospital, handicapped or in heaven resting there. It is important to consider every aspect of car, only that makes you feel safer and confident while driving with your loved ones. If you aren’t buying xuv300, better buy only 5 star rated car just for your loved ones. XUV300 is the best in its SEGMENT. I am a Ford fanboy and also owned 2 Fords.. but between Ecosport and XUV300, I see the XUV getting a lot of flak on dynamics which is rather unfair.. I have driven both and I felt XUV more stable at speeds and having better body balance.. sure the Ecosport wins convincingly in the steering feel but I think saying the balance is worse than Ecosport is just conforming to world view not to offend anyone ..

Hi (clever name btw), I know the things that we look for in our cars can be different even while judging the same parameter. However, I have shared my honest opinion on this. I own a Ford EcoSport petrol, have driven the EcoSport diesel (both Titanium and Trend) and I had the XUV with me for over 10 days. I have driven the XUV300 previously as well. If you take any set of curves in the EcoSport and the XUV, the difference in the two is very apparent. The way the two cars react to direction changes, mid corner acceleration, or even lane changes in the middle of a curve is very different. Please note that I was driving the diesel XUV300 and the tuning of the petrol is different, so your experience might be coming from there. Again, views might differ person to person:)

However - it can hold one large trolly and couple of hand baggages when parcel tray is on, if you are going for a very long trip or picking someone at airport or station - You can remove the parcel tray for that day and can hold 2 large trolleys on standing position. and a bag as well. I have done Bangalore to north Bengal trip in this car with rear seats folded and it did that without breaking a sweat. You can rev at 2500-3000 RPM for 10-12 hours and still the engine and you will be comfortable. For everyday tasks-boot is sufficient. Budget would be around 15 lakhs
@road_not_taken3 жыл бұрын
Hi@@chandannaidu96 , Thanks for your question. I were in your shoes, here's how I'd think: 1. Kia Seltos/Hyundai Creta: I am not confident about their safety and feel that dynamically they won't satisfy me in the long run. Plus the power difference between the EcoSport and these isn't huge. Even the Turbo petrol is only ~20 bhp more than the EcoSport Turbo Petrol. 2. Kushaq/Taigun: While the 1.5 TSI manual excites me, I felt that the cabin isn't much bigger than the EcoSport in terms of width. It has more legroom in the back, but that's it. Plus my experience with VW has been average in the past. If you put a gun to my head and ask to choose a new car I'd still buy either of these. 3. Honda City: I like the City overall. It's a great package but Honda needs to refresh their powertrains to stay relevant. I'd suggest you to try used cars: 1. Tata Harrier: I have recently driven it and I loved it but Tata's after sales scare me: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKWyq6l5rMeNhrc 2. Used BMW 320d: Amazing machine and you'd get a good one for your budget. 3. Ford Endeavour: If Ford leaves India, the prices of used Endeavours will drop and I'll pick one up definitely. I hope this helps:)

Space: The Creta is a bigger, more mature machine and your family will appreciate more space in the back (rear seats and boot). 2. Ride and Handling: The XUV300 is a great package but the Creta does all of that better as its a segment above 3. Features: Even the mid spec Creta will get most of the features as the XUV300 and you won't feel short-changed. 4. Newness of product: The Creta is a much newer product, so it will stay relevant and fetch better resale when you plan to sell it. The reasons to buy the XUV300 would be: 1. Safety: If you upgrade to a W8(O), you will get more airbags but a similar Creta is over 20 lacs. Further, the NCAP rating of the XUV is much better. 2. Size: If you live in a congested space, the Creta might be a little bigger, but I'd say that over a few months you'll get used to the size. I hope this answers your question:)

The pickup and all are great but what's the use if you can't fickle it easily while overtaking. Car doesn't offer much confidence while steering on high speeds. I thought it's low ground clearance and longer wheel base will make it feel much stable and planted on highways but it isn't the case. Maruti gives 1.5 NA engine but trust me it might feel less powerful than xuv 300 but overall suspension setup, short gear throw, low clutch travel makes it such a sweet car for city. Xuv is made for the highways or express ways but not regular city traffic.

However, in my opinion, the ambience of the XUV300 is more premium in terms of the materials used and which is why it is slightly better, but not a big difference. How it compares with nexon petrol, and which one to go for considering it's my first car? also for me it's mostly city 60-70% rest highway, now considering nexon provides all safety features from base variant which one to go for? Regarding driving dynamics how nexon steering + suspension + driving mode + slightly poor engine compares with xuv driving dynamics?
@road_not_taken3 жыл бұрын
Hi Debabrata, I feel that the XUV300 petrol is a better buy than Nexon if you look at the overall package. The reason I say this is because Nexon's engine isn't tuned perfectly. Diesel is still okay, the petrol engine's tuning has a lot of flat spots. I have only driven the Nexon petrol and would recommend against it. I haven't driven the XUV300 but the reviews I have heard are very positive. Please do try both for yourself before buying. In terms of value, I feel they are almost the same as the XUV has a lot of discounts. Dynamically, I'd rate the Nexon higher as I mentioned in the video, but the engine can't use those dynamics to it's advantage. And as a package the XUV wins. However, please don't decide before the test drives, and take a proper long one. If I were you, I would rent both the cars for a day and then decide:)

Hi Prajwal, I haven't driven the AMT XUV300 so can't share my feedback. But from what I have read, it is one of the better tuned AMTs out there and the engines (both petrol and diesel) are so good, they make the AMT feel even better. BTW, getting an XUV300 would be difficult with Mahindra prioritising XUV700's manufacturing.

Hi Aditya, The EcoSport is more agile because of its handling. But the engine of the XUV is definitely better, as I said in the review. The XUV is more powerful, refined and feels really strong in the mid range. The best combo for me would be the XUV300 with the handling of the EcoSport.

The suspension tuning of the petrol is noticeably different from the diesel (I've read this from multiple sources). Hi Nikhil, Interesting choices. The Sonet has the better gearbox, while the XUV is safer and more spacious. Here is how I would think: 1. If I stay outside Delhi NCR, I'd pick the Sonet Diesel Auto as the engine gearbox combination is much better than the Petrol DCT or AMT. 2. For Delhi NCR, I'd pick the XUV300 AMT as the engine on the XUV300 is the segment best, and the AMT is also better tuned than the ones lower down the price range. Please note that if these discussions were for manuals, I'd choose the XUV over the Sonet anyway as its much safer and the engines are great in the XUV. I hope this helps you with your decision:)

Just took a test drive, and you are spot-on with most of the observations - and i hate the beige on the top-end - going to suffer it! Can't live with a Hyundai, and this seems best option among everything! Still have concerns, but forced to buy this after driving an ecosport diesel for 5 years, because Ford is exiting. The power is amazing, but the feedback is pathetic in comparison with ecosport - but hoping this would fit in right-on for me now - intending to slow-down for the family cruises now. :) Ecosport breezes through without any shaky feel at 160 for regular curves and you feel the confidence, but this doesn't seem to match that - weight might be a thing too! Good review but I have my reservation for some of your findings 1 - At high speed I feel Venue's engine makes more noise and Xuv feels much more stable and more calm 2 - In handling I think it is at par with EcoSport and alot better than any other compact suvs anyday 3 - that opening in the arm rest is there so that you can easily put your mobile or wallet or anything in the box without opening it and when you stop just open the box and pull your things out Lastly You didn't mention the main reason You drove W4 variant which comes with 16" tyres and W8 comes with 17" ( same size as that with Harrier ) and it makes a hell lot of difference in driving experience ( just take a test ride and you will feel it for sure ) One more thing - I bought w8(0) diesel at 13 lakhs on road and discounts are always there so in no way it will go upto 16 lakhs on road ( you highly exaggerated it ) I think you have to shell out 14 lakhs for diesel top manual and for that price it is a beast

Hi Sudhanshu, Thanks for the detailed comment and sharing your observations! Really appreciate it :) Here are my thoughts: 1. High speed engine noise: My observations were different but it's okay. I drove the W4 XUV and the Venue SX. 2. Handling: I'd say the EcoSport handles better. The 17" rims do make a difference, but I have driven the base EcoSport as well and it still is a better handler. The XUV, however, rides much better. 3. Thanks for sharing this. I did't know this one:) Lastly, XUV has great discounts and I mentioned it on the video. My reference was the price of XUV300 in Mumbai (Diesel Auto @ Carwale).

Handling is not as good as the Ford but honestly, good enough. Unless you drive very hard it should be fine. 2. Mahindra might not have the next gen XUV300 soon, so resale might drop once it is discontinued (this is only a rumour). But if you hold on to cars for more than 5 years, it shouldn't be an issue. Have driven Ecosport,creta and the seltos never feels like you are driving a SUV but XUV 300 feels somewhat SUVish.

Crystal and Clear.. This just what a buyer likes to listen. Bro you did a spot on job and I must say.. Your voice is a Hero here... And your accent with simple words.. !! Thank you Bro. But one last question in my mind.. Which is your favorite machine then? 😊

Best words I heard today! Thanks a ton for your kind words. Comments like these are what keep me going 🙏. On my favourite machine: I had actually recorded this part but edited it out. For me, an ideal machine would be the one with the EcoSport's handling & chassis and the engine of the XUV300. This combination would have been possible if Mahindra - Ford JV went through. Unfortunately, it didn't! I know this is not the best answer, which is why I edited it out :) Thanks again for your words!

Hi Govindan, Tata Punch would have been comparable to the XUV300 if they got the Turbo engine. If I were choosing between the two (top variant of Punch vs base variant of XUV), I'd get the XUV eyes closed. I have driven the Revotron 1.2, and the 1.2 Turbo. Both can't hold a candle to the XUV 1.2 Petrol. I hope this helps:)
