Educate yourself before making videos spreading misinformation. The New Year is based on the Chinese lunisolar calendar (Moon + Sun), not the Lunar calendar (pure Moon). Chinese people created it from Chinese culture, and the whole world celebrates it with Chinese customs & traditions (lion dance, dragon dances, Chinese characters, red pockets, red decorations ...), so respect and credit them by calling it the rightful name Chinese New Year or Spring Festival (if you want to be inclusive to others)

Seriously, please spend more time on the pre-work. If you explained the Lunar calendar in that way, that would be the Islamic calendar, the new year date should be June 26th or 27th, you could easily find that info from all Muslim folks coz they are using the true LUNAR Calendar. 2. Lunar New Year is the absolutely WRONG way to call it since the new year date is calculated based on the Chinese calendar, which is a LUNISOLAR calendar with both lunar cycles and solar adjustments. Please show more respect to other cultures.

This professor is wrong about the tradition of eating cauliflower in CNY. It's not cauliflower, it's fàcài (髪菜), a type of edible algae that looks like dark color moss. It is often considered an auspicious vegetable because it is near-homophonous to 發財／发财 (fācái, “to make a fortune”). Cauliflower pronounced as 花菜huācài is not homophonous to fācái. fàcài (髪菜) is a stable in Chinese New Year dishes, but 花菜 is not.
