The Yellow Salsify

We present to you the Yellow Salsify aka the Western Goat's Beard (Tragopogon dubius)! Despite its attractive inflorescence, it is unfortunately categorized as an invasive plant in the Great Plains. It is originally from central and southern Europe, and it was brought into North America as an ornamental plant. It does fall within the Aster family in addition.
Despite it being invasive, it is indeed an edible food source in the roots.of course when foraging. It is best to consume in moderation.
