The shockwave from the explosion would’ve also killed them on top of that, I’m surprised that they’re so close to the blast but yet the shockwave is like a gentle breeze hitting them. All that pressure of Yellowstone being released all at once would be immense, similar to how Krakatoa erupted but 100x more. The overpressure of a blast this massive when it erupts would flatten and obliterate them and anyone and anything miles away from the eruption.

The most unrealistic part about this scene is the fact that the plane is even remotely stable. The air turbulence from a massive volcano erupting like that would have made flying pretty much impossible.

Yes but you forgot that the neutrinos had mutated which changes physics for air travel and causes buildings to fall in extremely slow motion as cars crash through them and avoid being crushed by the upper floors the whole distance.

1) no explanation how did he got off the cliff, just a heroic hand appearing 2) no explanation how did he outrun a take-off plane 3) no explanation how did the exhaust pipes of the plane not clogged by the enormous dust 4) no explanation how the seconds add up, between the running fumes, the fire, the plane , the take off procedure, and the searching for the map inside the van. The little kids added an unwanted level of annoyance for me. The multiple shots of seeing their faces in the confined plane window, the multiple cuts to the kids screaming, "Daddy," it was a sequence that, if cut 90%, would still deliver necessary tension.
