Why every game do they say "we can't let lewis win, we have to work together" then later in time they're fighting each other?

It's because Lewis is good at difusing drama and staying out of it. In the early game unless Lewis is going early aggressive he is very quiet and passive and natural on all issues. So at the start everyone remembers the last game and how Lewis won and how they need to team on him but as the game goes on more and more dramas start brewing. Meanwhile Lewis is building up his civ. Eventually Lewis will get so ahead they finally decide to team on him but in alot of series it's already to late because usually only 1 player has tech that can reasonably go against Lewis and the rest of the players are still using muskets because they have been fighting forever wars with one another.
