That castle they show in Edo (now Tokyo) was bombed by B-29s in 1944 and all but the stone structures were destroyed. The castle was rebuilt in 1957.

Yes but the castel in this drama, is not the castel of Edo, but the Himeji castel in Hyôgo préfecture. Build around 1300, and expanded at many Times. It was one of the Sumer résidence of Toyotomi Hydeochi. Demolished twice for reconstruction, first in 1345, second in 1603. Classified by UNESCO in 1993.
