Ade Edmondson (Vyvian) and Jennifer Saunders (Helen Mucus) got married a year after this show aired. They're still married and have two grandchildren now.

If the music numbers seem random, there's a reason they put them in. As a BBC2 sitcom their budget was pretty low. But if they added in a music act then they would class as a Variety Show, and that gave them a bigger budget that they could spend on special effects like exploding cookers and howitzers.

Apparently the Fat Slags characters didn't appear in Viz until 1989; if they'd been around in '84, Dawn & Jennifer could have enacted a brilliant live-action version of them! (I think Jennifer lost some weight by the time Girls on Top was made.)

I still don't get the dead silence everytime Mike is on. He's less funny but its not like anyone's died.
@LightSpectris6 жыл бұрын
He's like the Stan Marsh of the show. The straight man to the insanity that occurs in this show. And Christopher Ryan, the actor behind Mike, was always an outsider since he was an actor but Nigel (Neil), Adrian (Vyv) and Rik were all comedians so there wasn't that much rapport and chemistry on his part sadly. But still he was an essential member of the group and I wish he gets more praise from fans.
@jackofshadows85386 жыл бұрын
@@LightSpectris apparently the original 'Mike' was supposed to be played by...er... can't remember the guy's name HIS NAME IS PETER RICHARDSON!!!! I KNEW I'D FIND IT! Peter Richardson was originally supposed to play as Mike but, for some reason? They didn't think he would be as funny as Chris Ryan.
@Lee_B775 жыл бұрын
The character of Mike was always written for Peter Richardson. But, he actually dropped out because he'd had a major fallout with Paul Jackson (the Producer) before they started recording the show. They didn't speak for years after either. That's why he always appeared with Rik, Ade & Nigel on the comic strip presents shows, because they were for Channel 4 and had different producers. It wasn't that they thought Chris Ryan was funnier, it's just that Peter didn't want to do it while Paul Jackson was running the show. I think Mike is seriously underrated in the show. Still think the part where he accidentally nails his legs to the table is hilarious!
@dionwoollaston57175 жыл бұрын
jorgepeterbarton I'm trying to think of a good metaphor for Mike's character, ahh got it the other three are like form mustangs, loud, extremely overt while Mike is like a little golf hatchback, small, economical and sensible
