He was only the second Male Consort ( since Mary I was married to Phillip the King of Spain) that the UK had ever had (William lll was King of England along with Mary ll.) so there was really no template for what a Prince Consort was supposed to do. People are fascinated by Albert because he blazed a trail where there really was none. And he did this very well, without treading on Victoria's prerogatives.
