good video, love the work you have done, only thing is the sockets ran off a fused connection, you are then limited to 13amps at any one time before you blow the fuse. which isn't a lot for a studio, be better putting it in a ring circuit

For the hole in the ceiling, you can use a cut-out bit of plasterboard, fix a piece of baton behind the cut-out part and screw it from the ceiling side into the baton if you want this completely covered, you will need a small piece on the outer side to be able to hold it and then remove it once done.

Multipanel or cheaper PVC panels from B&Q would have worked in the Toilet area. Also think about LED panels at natural daylight temperature for video on the ceiling. Great Vlog never thought i`d be watching 10 years later haha

might have issues with that 13amp fused spur... 4 double sockets all on one 13amp fuse is not ideal and you might find that fuse blowing pretty regulary
@lexyoutube5146
@lexyoutube5146 Жыл бұрын
If he only wants the 4 double sockets situated for convenience as a temporary option, using one or two at a time could be ok. But just don't plug in a 2kw heater, kettle, microwave, or gaming PC at the same time!

The back wall could be a feature wall, you could look into wooden panelling (fill the whole wall with old pallet wood) might look cool and suit the room.

A dropped ceiling (like office spaces) would go well to help dampen noise and allow you to run cables and equipment (APs etc.) along the top without wires everywhere and then run the scaffolding poles underneath. Yes it would lower the head height a little but looks like you have plenty to spare based on the size of those window doors.
@oscarjefkins3346
@oscarjefkins3346 Жыл бұрын
To fill the whole cut a length of wood, wider than the hole and insert into the ceiling space with screws either side fixing to the existing ceiling board. Cut a circular piece of plasterboard and fix to wood with screws, fill over with easifil 20 or 60

Some 600mmx1200mm led surface panels would look good in the main big room Also having all those sockets wires from one fused spur means they’re all limited to 13a which is not a lot for all those sockets

Alex, you have given the studio a fresh new look and the windows let in a lot of light for such a big room. The ceiling downlights should look good when finished. Did you consider ceiling speakers?

As long as he isn't planning on drawing more than 13 amps across all the sockets added up then a fused spur will be fine. Hopefully no one plugs a heater or anything power hungry into the sockets 😅

Alex I think the storage room u should put a plaster board wall up so there’s one door and not to then maybe in the hallway where the door used to be u could put shelves up for the kitchen and not have it all in one corner

To fill that large hole in ceiling a piece of Wood to put above plaster board cut a a shape of. Plaster board the same thickness screw to wood, then fill with plaster in cracks, you can make the round hole square to get a better finish

You’ll never get rid of the echo no matter how much panelling you use to dampen the room is too large. try to create a partitioned off smaller studio space and put sound dampening in that.
@G7OEA
@G7OEA Жыл бұрын
If he hung curtain track along the window wall and across the room, then he could use a heavy curtain to reduce the room size and thus the echo. I would have ealao hung some 1.5 inch ally pipe across the ceiling tobjavg studio lights from. Will get better lighting and free up floor space

if the electrical for the lights are relatively spaced out nicely and evenly id recommend pot lights for a clean look and relatively inexpensive. I am a bit worried about all the windows looking into all that tech. I think you should atleast get some blackout curtains or something if you don't want to do bars on the windows. Looks really nice though

Part P of the building regulations in the UK allows a home owner to perform certain electrical jobs (outside of bathrooms) , including changing plugs and wall sockets, light bulbs, and light fittings, running short additional mains spurs and a few other things. There are additional requirements for work areas for employees (beware any liability for injury to a visitor or employee due to your work!). It’s always recommended that anything other than a minor job is inspected by a qualified contractor, BUT you are allowed to do a lot of minor jobs.

@oscarjefkins3346
@oscarjefkins3346 Жыл бұрын
Plugging in heaters etc will soon add up and you’ll be tripping all the time. If the feed to the fuse spur is a ring - continuity test between each conductor (red to red, black to black) and there is continuity you could put in a small consumer unit - fed by the ring with a 16/20 amp mcb inside which will allow you a bit more power. Not ideal but will get you through safely.
