Been suffering from bipolar for many years, with some symptoms going as far back as I can remember. The sheer amount of people diagnosing themselves with every mental illness they hear about and diluting the whole world of mental illness fills me with genuine frustration that I have to work hard to process. Wanting to die is now a bragging point on people's social media bios and it becomes their entire personality. And they get all the sympathy instead of the people quietly suffering and trying not to burden others with it.

People who self-diagnose with things, especially ones as complex as bipolar disorder, really just add to the stigma of it all. At the same time though, a lot of us worked really hard to be ABLE to open up about things and ask for help, which doesn't always look perfect I mean sometimes you just vent your suicidal ideation as a cry for help or to practice being comfortable opening up, because without opening up about it, it can be deadly. So I don't think it's fair to assume a person is faking or even attention-seeking if they do post about their mental illnesses, because a lot of us are tired of feeling the need to hide everything. I hid everything for decades. And really, insinuating that someone is faking because they talk about it is also adding to the stigma. Take care.

Normally if you want to start being a youtuber you should most likely get a job first so if the whole KZbin thing flops you aren't in trouble, you still have money and you'll be fine. I think when her views started going down she should have started looking for a job

It's all about financial mismanagement. If one gets to a place where their career brings in good money, use that money to create other streams of income that bring in more money. Don't create "bills" that take it away every month. Buy rental properties, invest in dividend stocks, start another business. All careers have risk and can end abruptly, rather a youtuber or surgeon. Having money coming in from multiple sources, and living below ones means, softens the loss of any one source.

It's the common financial mismanagement that most people do of increasing lifestyle to match immediate income with no consideration that future income from one source could be reduced or disappear. If instead of buying a big house for herself, she purchased a couple of rental properties that pay her every month, it would have been a very different situation.

Currently it's a toss up between "He's sad/depressed and doesn't want to make a video, not wanting to seem fake when he's all about covering bad or fake people, even if he's not fake." or "He's been sued by a certain mother he featured in a video and the court is prohibiting him from speaking about it or having basically any internet presence. Forgive the long winded response but this is an issue I'm trying to press upon my nieces and nephews. I have a ton of them. 22 to be exact (yeah, I know). Anyway, most of them are between the ages of 7 and 14. I'm shocked at the number of those kids who want to be KZbinrs. It's like how kids wanted to be athletes when I was growing up. These are the folks our kids are looking up to now. The need for external validation that comes from social media is a little scary to me. I sincerely hope this is something they grow out of...
