I ended up buying a couple of smart switches from zemismart today since from what I have checked so far, these are one of my best options given we are in APAC and our unit does not come with neutral wires and we have 220v power. Smart products seem to be mostly focused on the US market (neutral wires, 120v, etc) so it is nice for non-US consumers to finally have more options.

You should check Wi-Fi. The manual is conflicting: it says 2.4ghz cable to router. Also a review on Amazon says it doesn’t. Curious what you find.

I don’t see myself using these, but, I said the same thing about Aqara when I first started watching videos about them. And now several months later I have a lot of Aqara products and even recommended it to friends. Speaking of Aqara, I have tons of the little leak sensors. Now I’m really needing that next step of having a valve shut off the water when a leak is detected. Looking forward to a video about how you tackle the valve. Great channel, man.

Does the Tuya app expose the already added devices to HomeKit? I have Tuya (wifi) bulbs added to the Tuya smart app. When is pair the hub to the aap, do they expose eveything to HomeKit? Or only the devices that are added through the heb (Zigbee ones).

Great video Shane. I've had the Zemismart Zigbee hub for a few months now, originally to automate some chain pull blinds (I have 2 different types they sell now, the last 2 I got with the solar panels). For the motor blinds, you will want the Tuya app so that you can configure the blind upper/lower limits. I've also got one of the wireless 4 button switches which works great (has press, double press and long press support and I'm always amazed at how quickly the nanoleaf bulb responds to it), and I'm currently waiting for a couple of the in-roller mounted roller blinds to arrive (takes about 3 weeks for thing to arrive to Australia too). Have to say, their stuff works pretty well. There was a firmware issue with one of the blinds (didn't originally ship with homekit support), but their support team was pretty good in getting it going.

Hey Shane, could you do a video on where the different smart home accessories companies/manufacturers are located (ie.USA, China, Canada, Germany etc.) I’ve tried looking them up but there are some companies that are hard to locate what country they are made in. I’m sure there are some people that prefer to buy MADE IN THE USA and Support Local.
@no-budhee66572 жыл бұрын
Even though most companies are going to have their manufacturing in China regardless of what country their company is located, I’m definitely not connecting anything from a Chinese company to my network and internet.

Is there an outdoor weather friendly gate or door contact sensor? Currently nothing for HK
@wbm10772 жыл бұрын
I was using an Aqara sensor in a weather proof case, but just started using The new outdoor sensor from ring (and I use hoobs to expose my ring to HK)
@uniqueflh29412 жыл бұрын
As @B Mac suggested, I would be looking for an inexpensive enclosure to put the 'big' part of the Contact Sensor in. What's nice is...the other 'small' side of the Sensor is just a magnet...so you could replace it with a stronger magnet IF you have any issues with proper triggering in your install scenario. You could probably get it done for a few extra dollars (or whatever your local currency is), and a little bit of creativity.

Always happy to see more HomeKit options. But If I’m going to add another hub to support Zigbee in HomeKit, I’m leaning toward a Sonoff or Conbee II dongle, as that would allow adding Zemismart devices plus many more Zigbee brands all under my existing Homebridge unit. May even step up to running it in HomeKit under Home Assistant, now that that is possible, and with a beefier nuc mini pc. Hmm. 🤔 So many options!

Since 6 months I have the Zemismart curtainrail (wifi version). Why? Lot cheaper than Somfy and great quality. Don’t want those curtain bots with batteries and the Zemismart has a belt driven system with a lot of power. I have thick curtains from ceiling to floor with 100% blackout. So they are quite heavy and the Zemismart can open and close them easily. I don’t have a Zemismart hub but use a plugin within Homebridge.

The light switches don’t “fit” because they aren’t for US and run 220v. Also no ul or ce certification if that concerns anyone, as it should when dealing with AC voltages.
