The ZL1500 finally hits the ROAD! The 10spd shifts are crispy!

The weather finally cleared up enough to hit the road in the ZL1500 for the first time. The first drive went awesome and really gives us a lot of a huge relief being everything was brand new. Also troubles with Nemo (ZL1) but replacement parts are already going on.

The GMT400 platform was an awesome platform. I would love to see this build in a 4wd 1500 or Tahoe so you could do AWD launches. This is very reminiscent of the kind of builds Jon Moss used to do.

The truck looks incredible Justin, I’ve really enjoyed watching the build. I think color matching the door/tailgate handles and a light tint on the clear corners to match the headlights better would tie it all together.

I wanted to find another set of these clear corners before i tinted them. They are super hard to find. I found some so now I will tint these. I’m gonna leave the handles black though. I don’t want to shy away from factory touches.

I love the early interior the way it came and you fixing the only flaw on these trucks with that beautiful instrument cluster. I had a 454 ss and I kick myself everyday for getting rid of it. Wowww, this is my absolute dream truck!!! Hell I own an 03 gmc Sierra 1500 with only 40k original miles and it's black on black rwd 5 speed ls V8 she's rare and in showtruck condition so I'd like to do something special under the hood and really wake her up a bit then work on stiffening up the chassis/suspension really turn it into a fun little truck but for now she has maybe 400hp and a clutch with zero weight in the back so it's already fun as hell lol

Blankets go on the turbine. The center housing (CHRA) is exposed, which is what needs to be cooled by air..

@@slomango7927 yeah, I know how turbos work. The question I was asking was about insulating air-cooled turbos. It seems like the more heat you hold inside them that they would overheat because they're not being cooled by water. Air-cooled motors for example require more air flow

@@kxdirtjumper turbos are not air cooled at all. They are cooled and lubricated with the oil. The blankets go over the exhaust housing only. It retains the heat in the exhaust housing only for better spool. The center cartridge and oil are unaffected.
