I LOVE THIS!!!! Of yall didn't see she asked him to do it, basically. If you look she presses the gun closer to him. She probably knows that she has to, because she wants him to be happy and they both are sort of miserable. He probably feels so guilty. But when she tells him to smile, it's her reassuring him that everything is going to be okay, and to be happy. So it's not as horrible as it seems. BUT YOU DID SO GOOD WITH THIS!! ONE OF THE BEST I HAVE SEEN WITH THIS SONG OF ALL TIME!!!

I wanna say that the girl was actually someone he used to be very close with. When she saw him, she fell in love not knowing why. The boy recognizes her and always have a guilty expression on his face while the girl is always happy to see him. My guess can be that she died and he couldn't save her (and maybe also that she was his girlfriend before the zom apocolypse). His friends saw the zombie girl and thinks that keeping her is both wrong and unhealthy. The boy keeps on defending her and doesn't want to lose her again. Some times have passed, and the boy can see that she's not the same person anymore. He doesn't want her to suffer any longer and shoots her in the head. If you've read this far, thank you so much!! My version of this is that the girl was very close with the guy (They were lovers or the guy had a HUGE crush on her) before she got turned into a zombie. The guy was heartbroken when he saw her as a zombie and he went kinda crazy and most of the song was just his mind (Make's sense since we don't see her with a smile and open arms after he shot her instead we saw her with a normal zombie face). The guy just created a fake scenario that she loves him even as a zombie (he keeps her alive and in a way that she can't hurt him even though she tries) which explains why his friends try to ,,kill them" (This part is mostly real but instead of killing ,,them" they just try to kill the zombie girl cuz' their friend is getting crazy over her), and at the end, the guy realizes his mistakes and that she can't love him cuz she's a zombie and releases her and put her out of her misery (The part where she gives him the gun is what he thinks what she would do if she was a zombie with feelings of love/friendship, had a hard time trying to control her urge's to eat him and thus wanting him to put her out of misery cuz' she doesn't want to hurt him (It's a way for him to cope up with killing her)). My story is very plausible cuz' sometime's we see her turn zombie-ish (He comes back to the bitter reality that the girl he likes is a zombie that doesn't like him and wants to eat him) and we once see her completely human (He remembers the good times with her)

No, it’s the exact opposite. She did not want to die but she knew she had to bc she didnt want to hurt or kill someone else. He loved her so much that he respected her wishes by killing the only good thing in the crazy post-apocalyptic world to him.
