This band along with many others the Dave Clark Five, Peter and Gordon, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Hermits Hermits, Petula Clark the animals and on and on were part of what they called the British Invasion! And I remember the zombies listening to them on my little transistor radio at night under my pillow LOL!

Next, check out some Peter and Gordon, especially "A World Without Love". And then Chad and Jeremy, with "Yesterday's Gone", "Willow Weep for Me", "Before and After", and "A Summer Song".

Songfacts: The Zombies recorded this in one take after they won a talent contest at their college called the Herts Beat competition. The prize was a recording session. The group signed to Decca Records, and their keyboard player Rod Argent came up with this song for the session. It tells the story of an alluring woman who won't be tied down to one man - the singer wants to tell us all about her, but he can only use words, since she's not there.

Very important band, early part of the British Invasion that The Beatles ushered in. Their most famous song is probably "Time of the Season". "Tell Her No" is a good one too. Btw, most of these early/mid 60's videos were appearances on various tv shows. Queen is credited with making the 1st real music video a decade later with "Bohemian Rhapsody" in 1975. However The Beatles did make a couple of promo type music "videos" in the 60's.💙🌿 Speaking of Queen, I'm dying for you to do "Dragon Attack". It's their funkier side & you NEED to hear the studio version, it's so good. Then if you followed that with the live Montreal version, what a treat that would be! It's really one of those songs that's worth doing both!💙🌿💚

I grew up not into 60's music so much; I was all 70's and 80's. Later though I came to love so many of the great groups and songs...The Zombies are amazing..."breathy" vocals and killer keyboards. They still perform too. Apparently one reason they weren't as ultra popular as The Beatles and Stones etc..was they lived near London...St. Albans, and they tended not to be staying/hanging with and partying with The London Crowd. I bought their greatest hits CD, and I never get tired of it.

I’ve been waiting for you to react to the Zombies. They were just elected into The Rock and Roll hall of fame! They performed 3 or 4 songs at the ceremony. They still sound great! They’re in their 70’s! This is great music. You need to react to Tell Her No and Time of the Season- 2 other songs by them. Love your reactions! You make my day, Jamel!

There are some great clips from these 60s music shows, like Hullabaloo and Shindig. The Zombies were a British invasion band, which spawned a lot of great music. Love and peace to you!

I have this, and several other Zombie songs, on my Time Life Classic 60's cd collection. This song hit the American charts when I was 7 years old. Heard it a lot on the transistor radio I listened to while delivering newspapers when I was 11 and 12 years old. Great choice!

I remember listening to the zombies they were part of what they called the British Invasion how the early sixties which was started by The Beatles of course! I used to listen to music at night and I would put my transistor radio under my pillow so I wouldn't disturb anybody! And listen to Herman's Hermits, The Dave Clark Five, Peter and Gordon, Petula Clark the animals etc etc etc! You brought back lots of memories! Thank you Jamal stay safe!

Thanks for doing a reaction to these guys, Jamel. They were one of the first groups of The British Invasion following on the heels of the Beatles. Underrated group but they finally made it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year.

I took the meaning completely different. I thought the story was about a beautiful girl/woman who was so concerned about her appearance, she had no real thoughts of her own, and/or she was so stoned, "the lights were on, but nobody was home."
