Hi James, thank you for the videos. Quick tip for you...when you are using fibreglass filler (not normal filler!!) whilst it is still wet, cover it with masking tape. This lets you push the fibreglass with your finger hard into the repair and not as proud, Once the fibreglass is dry, remove the tape and you will need very minimal sanding and also be able to remove the unwanted fibreglass from the paint with a combination of thinners on a rag and a stanley blade. Try it, you will be surprised how much easier, quicker and better it will be.

Love the channel and your genuine care for selling decent cars unlike 99% of the car trade these days. I’ve always rated the i10, my mum has had two of the newer model and absolutely adores them. Reliable, not overly complicated, cheap but very cheerful and surprisingly robust in crashes. And being a huge Volvo fan, love the V70, you did a fantastic job on that wing!

Using one of the small metal bladed paint scrapers would make the plastic trimming so much easier. They're only cheap and come with replacement blades. You can also buy just the replacement blades on their own ... Having a handle will make it much more controllable and speed up the process too. Hope that helps.

James you should have painted the whole wing for the Volvo, there would (although slim) have been a chance of an edge to edge match? Even if not it would have had a solid base for top coat to cover if you blend into the door. Always better to paint over a total area than putting base coat over fresh clear thats faded out.

I've got a question about post sale issues. I've recently bought a car and paid the advertised price because I thought it was fair given the car has recently had a new cam belt with the receipt evidencing that. But what I thought was a bit of tape on the window from an old sale sign or something turns out to be an issue with the window tint on the passenger side window, nothing major but a small issue. I also noticed that the tyre wall on the rear passenger side tyre has some damage, it's like a flap of rubber exposing about 0.5cm deep into the tyre. I didn't notice the tyre on the day so have thought it may well be something that's happened since, although I haven't hit any curbs or anything. Do you think this is something I should just take on the chin? The dealer seemed like a nice bloke and even chucked in a little bottle of scratch remover because I asked what product it was he used. I don't want to be a prick but I did just buy the car and noticed these odd small issues afterwards. The car also smells like cigarettes inside which I didn't notice until I had completed the sale irritatingly. Any advice on how to get rid of that smell?
@sammytheseal23072 жыл бұрын
The window tint is cosmetic so no claim there really, the tyre would pass an MOT if there are no cords showing under the rip, so no claim there but you may wish to change it for peace of mind. Ozone generator or a Neutradol to get rid of the smell 👍

I find that on any car above 500 quid people want the paint spot on, I do virtually every mark, it's a total bind but your very lucky if people accept bad paint or damage, bit bizarre really as most cars have some marks right up to newish, but that's how it is, I've spent today prepping a micra, mgtf, corsa and a Mx5, filling primer, the mg is a point of fact, tried flipping it as is, only a bit scabby at 1300,no takers, ill paint down both sides and 2995 it, you'd have thought with it being a 20 year old rover people would have accepted some scabs, but no, if you got a compressor mate you could DA that sodka, base coat and clear it and it'll look Bob on, tbh the time spent trying to sell sub standard paint cars (and failing) is better spent prepping them and painting.
