agreed. the switch feels so dead in general (hyper-minimalist ui, barely any sounds, lame mii maker) but honestly i feel like just adding any menu music would make it feel so much better

I suspect that the shop music was stuttering, given the lackluster performance of the eshop app. Since that didn't work, and the main menu was supposed to be quick in and out, they probably didn't bother putting music anywhere else

@@hyper_lynx The Switch eshop is a web app, and sound could just run in its own thread, as most of today's browsers do it, to my knowledge at least. For the main menu it'd mean the smallest amount of extra load time, but maybe not even that if it's parallelized. You gotta remember, even if 3DS had bad load times on bootup, the Switch is many times more powerful than it. Maybe next time.

The 3DS was handsdown the best console ever made. From the Activity Log and StreetPass to hundreds of Menu Designs and soundtrack for even the internet setup.. And thats not even factoring in CFW with which you effectively have access to every single game across GBA, DS and 3DS

One thing I seriously need to return is themes. Such as themes for various applications (eshop, settings) and menu themes. Much like the 3ds, i want the Switch 2 (albeit unlikely) to have themes wherever possible. I also want to buy pre-existing themes from the 3ds era and re-experience them on a much larger screen. Most themes may still be new to me, but i also want new themes pertaining to games that came out during the main Switch's lifecycle plus the games coming out for the Switch 2. All in all, i really want themes to return
