Railfanning Spring, TX 1/2/16

At least you saw some trains, better than nothing at all. Yeah, I also wonder why the UP lines were dead yesterday. My plan is to do some railfanning today. Hopefully I will see at least 3, like you did with C Boyer.

dude, today sucked. went to Englewood yard, couple of trains nothing awesome. Went to Memorial NOTHING. Went to the diamond on west street, NOTHING. GOT CHASED BY THUGS, CRAPPY DAY, today and yesterday sucked.

+TheACman42 I think it's that furlough stuff going on, the railroads are losing business and damn I've been able to tell it really has been going downhill. hopefully this is temporary and trains and jobs get back on track!

Great catches, QSPNL usually sports about three to five units upfront and most are run through power.. That duo will have their hands full with the slight grade into Conroe.

Excellent catches with UP C44ACCTE #5875 and NS C40-9 #8809 pulling a manifest, UP C44AC #6458, UP SD70ACe #8502 and UP C45ACCTE #7885 pulling a manifest, and it meeting UP C44AC #6773 and UP SD70M #4727 pulling a manifest with UP C44ACCTE #5903 as a DPU! You got neat stuff!

in terms of safety, how easy and safe is it to railfan that area? I'm having no luck around tower 87 lately and west st diamonds are usually abandoned and in a shittier neighborhood, today I got chased by a few "males" near the west side of town, luckily I took off before they got to me. I know spring is a far ways from deer park but is it busy with trains? worth the drive and accessible without being harassed by cops?

+Abel POSSIBLY Garcia I'm pretty sure it isn't that bad. Like I usually didn't have much problems railfanning there. It should be way better than the neighborhoods around Tower 87 and West St diamonds. I'm not sure what the night condition there is but it seems pretty safe in the day. And damn, that must've been scary. For the actions at Spring, TX, it depends. Sometimes it's busy and sometimes it's dead. When I was at Spring on last year October, the actions were busy. But yesterday the actions sucked.
