Hello Adrian, thank you for making this review, I was looking forward to it! I have the L.R. Baggs Anthem in my guitar (piezo+mic) and I'm curious about adding one more pickup system to improve my live sound. What is your opinion on having the NT Tone with the Anthem? I really like that natural and airy sound of the NV microphone. Also, I'm quite worried about the feedback issue for live playing. What is the main difference between this internal mic and some other internal mic? Thank you!

I think the anthem can get the job done, but I dislike undersaddle transducers for one, and the mic is very thin and boxy in my opinion compared to the NV tone. That being said, when playing live you will adjust according to the situation regardless of what pickup you have. If it’s a big loud stage, you will need lots of EQ and compression. If you are in a small club with only a monitor or two, then you won’t have to alter as much. The main difference I find with this particular internal mic is the low end, the percussions, and the highs are shiny and bright, sometimes too bright, and mids are still very present and transient. And the ability to charge the unit for use without mains is nice. I think the EQ on the unit is good, but you will have to make some adjustments with FoH in any venue situation regardless.

Hi. Awesome review, really like the product. Two quick question: I'm planning on gigging and most probably I'll be playing small venues with bad sound systems and most probably loud floor monitors facing towards me. 1. Will a soundhole cover be enough for fixing the feedback issue? 2. Will the soundhole cover affect the microphone capture too much? I'm concerned it will prevent the microphone from capturing the airy highs and warmth coming from the actual strings being strummed. Thanks a bunch.

In my opinion soundhole covers dampen much of the transients and overall sound of the acoustic guitar. It’s especially poor for percussion and highs. I believe they have a better suitability for a band situation. If you learn to do cuts on the necessary frequencies and recognize what notes are feeding back and what frequency they are, you will save yourself a lot of time in the long run for live sound engineering.

you also mentioned, doing a stereo split out of the one endpin jack. So are you running a stereo TRS cable into the guitar input on the preamp? And thats how you get separate controls for the piezo and mic?

Using a stereo splitter that pairs with the stereo cable I’m using. A brand I recommend is RattleSnake Cables.

Hey Adrian. I have an anthem but I don't use thr ust part. Can you put the nv tone instead the jack of undersaddle in the anthem? If you don't... How can I used both systems together? Thanks

Feedback isn’t much of an issue when using the right amount of gain. You will need to adjust some EQ curve for some clashing frequencies here and there, but nothing out of the ordinary. Really plugged in dry and flat it sounds fine, but at higher volume out of monitors for example you’ll have some more adjusting to do. It really is my favorite internal mic I’ve come across and I’ve tried many.
