➜ Heads Up! You need a 4WD or AWD to get to this spot now. The road is rough
►Brief Summary of the Video: Today I check out a small segment of Abandoned Highway 80 in San Diego. Nowadays Interstate 8 cuts through and takes over where most of the original highway was, but in some areas you can still find some of it leftover from when it was built 100 years ago. If you do come to this spot, please leave it how it is. The roads condition is amazing for its time, and any vandalism or graffiti would be a terrible addition to it. Please leave it how you found it.

My parents grew up in San Diego. My dad was born in 1951, and my mom was born in 1952, so they were both here when 80 was still in use, and the 125 hadn't even started being built yet.

Roads must be one of the few usable things in public when abandoned, as long as they’re not too damaged. It would make an exciting road trip.

It’s part of the abandoned section you can still drive; you can still drive it in Jacumba and Boulevard, through Pine Valley and Descanso, then ends before you get to 8. So fascinated with this road! Saddens me they had to destroy it to make the 8, they could’ve rerouted to keep it, or most of it.

I love the history of this place. People don't realize how cool San Diego is. Its more than the downtown area. But you'll love PNW, so much to see and do up there. Great job on the video!

San diego has some amazing history and i do love it, but its become too expensive and i think the PNW will have some amazing opportunities and definitely infinite exploring spots. Ill be back here a lot though!

I love the old Golden State Highway and the Old Ridge Route used before Interstate 5 through the Grapevine was built. Pyramid Lake’s Dam buried the old Highway 99. It’s two hours north of San Diego.

10:40 Old rock billboards? I believe back in the day (1900s to 1930s). They or powers to be allowed to use nature's billboards (aka rocks) That's really cool!!

@@AdventuringwithTrevor Oh!, okay so you know what part of the Old Highway I'm talking about. Exit 40 and go east Wildwood Glen Lane make a left. That bridge is actually original, you should go down to the creek, pretty nice area.👍👍✌️

Is the Date farm still out that way? I remember as a kid my parents often drove down hwy 80, this was back in the sixties and 70s and one of our favorite stops was at the old Date Farm, we also used to stop at the castle that is made entirely out of rocks, not sure what the real name is, I only remember being called the Castle. Anyways it is worth looking into if either is still there or just simply abandon. Enjoy your video.
