He's a Klopp midfielder - a runner and presser. I don't think he's technical enough to be in Slot's first 11 long term. But as a squad player he is useful.
@jakehowie442Күн бұрын
He’s actually really good technically especially quick passes and interchanges, good at shooting should get more goals. Szobozlai is actually best on the counter attack or when he has space in the box. Hence why he plays more away games. He’s not great at passing around midfield and controlling the tempo of game, like Macca or Gravenberch

@@LOGOS422 we’ll see. It’s only like 20 games into Slot’s time. I genuinely think Don can do more than you think. I’ll be interested to see if he an be moulded into what a slot wants, or even pushed further up the pitch. He used to play on the wing/inverted for RB
@ViewsfromMidfieldКүн бұрын
@@jakehowie442 I agree. Competition with Jones for that spot should spur him on and if it doesn’t then the spot is Curtis’. Still think Dom has so much more to come. He’s only 23/24

Yeah he's right up at the top of the list of players you'd least want injured. Massive blow because he's been one of the nest CBs in Europe this season but Gomez and VVD have a great bond and understanding so hopefully be ok. Either way we need to bring in a LB or ignacio type player who can play CB or LB and like for like cover for gravenberch. I just hope FSG realise what an opportunity we've been presented and strengthen from a position of power for once!

Neil Atkinson made a really good point; that midweek game was one of the first times this season that our superstar player made a critical mistake. instead of capitulating the rest of the team stepped up and made it insignificant, now we are talking about the youngest player on the pitch having a boss game. By contrast, Madrid's star player made a mistake and their side sunk within themselves and he is getting pelters in every column of the Spanish sports newspapers. Hopefully, Trent will see what that really means for his future, too.

True but Salah hasn’t been amazing in Europe this season anyway. All other players have stepped up like Diaz and Macca

Game 1 could have gone better, no serious injuries. Wednesday night vs a team that gave us less of a challenge than Brighton in a competition we had already looked certain to progress in, the main priority was no injuries for the much bigger games (starting Sunday) which we didn't get. Bradley's injury was so unnecessary. He should have been off when he started hobbling 5 mins sooner.

Slot has overplayed Konate, and should have been taking him off more regularly, not just for Konate’s sake, but also to get some valuable game time in for Gomez and Quansah. Ditto with Elliott, he is now going to be a critical,player and we simply cannot go on expecting Mac, Gravers and Szobo to play every game - at least he has now started to bring Jones to the party, now he has to do the same with Elliott, or we are running the risk of knackering our brilliant midfield.

You can’t put that injury on too much playing time it was a freak injury in the last second of a game.

Brilliant show, thanks for the free week. Completely agree that we're not playing a traditional 10 as they have a lot more defensive responsibility but Slot wants somebody crashing into the box. I don't agree with Rob's comments on Trent overlapping. I think it's very intentional that out fullbacks are generally underlapping this season because it gives us a lot better structure if we lose the ball. We might miss out on a few opportunities to score but we'll keep more clean sheets I don't agree with Rob around

78-79, but first round is what I mean. Was a heck of a shock, but they had the sign over us for sure 78-80, then we went past them again. Clough was an arrogant b'stard, but he was a genius. It was personal though- we hated Forest. Just look at the players they had. It is hard to like a single one of them. We used to sing "Larry, Larry, show us your tits", which was funny. The Shilton for England brigade pissed us right off as well. Anyway, I'll shut up now. You can tell I'm 58 right?

Lot of people saying we're favourites for both this game and the league; if we win it the league is ours.. if we draw/lose it's game on. Honestly, it's really not that important. Slot has shown enough in the 15(?) competitive games he's been in charge to know we can maintain this style and strength over the whole season even with injuries. The future is golden.

Slot's demands for a 10 position varies depends on the opposition & state of the game 0-0, 1-0, 0-1 etc. That said, the 10 presses high along with the main striker (Nunez) and the 2 wide players ie. we press with 4. The 10 does lots of running in Slot's system and covers defensively, particularly on the RH side given Salah is at times staying high & wide. The 10 also floats in terms of switching with the 8 position (ie. MacAllister or Jones). The 6 is obviously the most defensive & fixed in terms of position but the 10 and the 8 are somewhat interchangeable. For the record, if TAA signs a new contract, I hope they explore Bradley's versatility as an 8 or 10 ..he could be very damaging in that role with his engine, speed & ability to attach & defend ..lots of upside with the lad

If Slot had been "the manager" the contracts could well have become an issue. As manager he might have to deny someone contract wishes and ask for their very best 10 min later. Being the head coach however Slot only needs to tell those affected " guys only i would like you to stay very much but I'm not about the numbers"

The run till man utd game we can’t lose any of our players with injuries .. the next one month is very very important to keep everyone fit and go with the momentum.. I am looking more at our fitness and results than performance for December.. we seriously need our players to comeback from injuries the like of jota, Ali, Elliot, and Trent and sort of push us for the results than missing games.. this is crunch time now.. we have to stay lowkey in the media till Everton game.. not give media some sort of negative headlines… the longer the contract takes the heavier it will affect us this season .. I just hope it doesn’t backfire big time

TAA & Gomez will start now with Ibou & Bradley out. I think Trent has become isolated, he doesn't look to me like someone who is all there, I couldn't question Virg or Mo on that. Possibly TAAA heads been turned and he's got the biggest decision of his career.

Can we officially start whining about having an injury crisis now? Our squad is the best & most balanced in the league imo & we're going to need it. Konate being out is really disappointing, but it was always going to happen at some point & it will give opportunities to Gomez & Qaunsah so could be a lot worse. Everyone so far has really stepoed up so I have no real concerns about Gomez & Qaunsah coming in.

This narrative around Szobo being a problem is just utter rubbish. He is obviously not as on the mark as Mac with his passing and general football intelligence. But without him, where would we find the legs, speed and physical presence that this lad brings to our game ? He is in that sense like Gini in being under appreciated until you don’t have him. I reckon he is really an advanced 8 rather than a 10, and we need him for the first 60-70 mins, to pressure teams and wear them out, then as teams tire and we need more precision in passing, sharper football intelligence and finishing ability, then we bring in Ellliott as a proper 10 and he could then wreak havoc - on the back of what Szobo has done beforehand. In rugby terminology, Szobo is our starter and Elliott is our finisher.

Neil wasnt quite so bad in this discussion, but so often he just seems to choke out a lively natural conversation by either rattling on for 5 minutes, or putting boring abstruse analytical questions (or propositions) to his guests. Not every show needs his ultra serious analysis. In fact most of them would greatly benefit from backing right off. I'm not questioning the quality of his insight, but for God's sake just lighten up a but, and let a natural conversation develop iwith these interesting people, nstead of always being the ultimate chairman. This channel has all the right ingredients. It could be so much much more engaging and so much more enjoyable.
