Dr dillamond was the best dr dillamond I have ever seen. They nailed his character and made me care for him so much.

One of my biggest peeves with Wicked is Fiyero, he literally tells you who he is and acts entirely differently, like the original cast is cannon. I was so happy to see him actually dancing during "Dancing through life", like the song literally says one thing and at best he kind of swings off a lamppost. Makes me crazy. Anyway thank you for dancing Fiyero Jon Chu.

I don’t think I could have been more pleased with this film and the additions they made. Nanny being added and made into a bear? Phenomenal choice! Plus all the easter eggs from the book as well as the original Wizard of Oz film. When the window broke in the dorm room, it made me so happy. 😂 Such a small thing, but I love it.

I was wondering about John Powel's music for this, and I did some googling and yes, it is getting an album. Apparently, the release date for that one will be December 6. No word on what the name of the album will be or how many tracks yet.

Firstly, hello fellow Ozians! I was just thinking about some ways they would bring part 2 to or around the runtime of part 1 and it dawned on me that part 2 may have to contend with the 1939 film's portrayal of Dorothy coming to Oz ending up being a dream! So that will be interesting if that is at all entertained, or if perhaps we get a bit of a revisionism toward it. Can't wait to see more theories for part 2 over the next year and I'm also SO SO SO interested to see the promo/trailers/marketing for part 2!

YAY FULL REVIEW!!!!!!❤ Just saw it today and sobbed several times 😂 I’ve grown up with Oz. I mean-I’m a Minnesota girlie so I loved Judy since I could walk. Wizard of Oz was one of 3 (the other two being beauty and the beast and sound of music, lol!) VHS films that were played on repeat growing up. I used to pretend I was Dorothy, or Glinda flying in her bubble…..when I was 9, I saw the tour with Eartha Kitt and the very first theatre role I ever got was Dorothy in 3rd grade. I have seen Wicked over 70 times (I worked as an usher at a theatre so I worked every single show when it toured in my town!😂) and I have seen Idina in concert twice (once with a stage door hug!) and just am dying to see the movie again even tho I literally JUST got back from it……its everything 💚 I love it so much

Minor complaints about the cinematography forget that the Technicolor part of the 1939 OG version didn't start until Dorothy came to OZ. Maybe there will be some sort of homage to this in part 2?😅
@RamiGuapoКүн бұрын
Ummm? Maybe because they were never like on “earth” Because the true point is the black and white was to tether Dorothy’s character to reality, to emphasize the monotony, thats why it goes back to black and white when she wakes up
@maicon.9322 сағат бұрын
technicolor was because it was a "dream" or "imagination" of Dorothy... but with Wicked, that was supposed to be a "real life" word... that's how I interpret this... and honestly, I don't understand what's the problem everybody's talking about with the cinematography of this movie? it looks beautiful to me...

Great Review!!!! I have been a fan of the musical since I saw it in Broadway, in September of 2003. I saw the musical with the Original Cast. My expectation for this movie based on the past Musical adaptation to the big screen I was hoping for the best but expecting another CATS and Mean Girls fiasco. Jon M Chu did what should be expected for a good musical adaptation, it not only catered to the Wicked Fandom but also was an amazing story, cast, and setting for a first-time viewer. Bravo for everyone who brought this modern masterpiece to life, thank you from this 55yr Old theater kid for renewing my faith in what made me fall in love with the theater in the first place.

My only big complaint was the lights.All the back light and over exposed light made it so hard to look at all the beautiful sets and costumes. Specially in no one mourns the wicked and dancing through life. But I loved the performances and all the additions to the story that were added 💛🙌
@Gee-xb7rt2 күн бұрын
for the practical sets they used a lot of natural light.I thought it looked fine. I had a lot bigger problems with the cgi parts because they are a direct contrast, its darker to hide blemishes and it always makes me go looking for what is cgi.
@solcarlosofficial2 күн бұрын
I wish the visuals were more colorful but mysterious like the 2003 Peter Pan version.
@Gee-xb7rt2 күн бұрын
@@solcarlosofficial cgi is in a weird place right now, its so expensive people are going back to practical, and imo its not very good quality either in that its so flipping dark, like you can't see any background in most of last year's Little Mermaid.

I always took the part in the intro when the dad screams "take it away" and the goat nurse then was kind and raised (nanny to her) Elphaba, making her bond to Dillamond something stronger

Just saw the movie and it was phenomenal! I agree that I hope they have more anarchist Elphaba like in the book. I don’t want them to make her into a hero, but rather an antihero. So that way she somewhat earns the title of the wicked witch of the West. Nothing annoys me more when they turn a villain into a completely misunderstood hero like they did to maleficent. Elphaba becomes a radical and not everything she does is good or helpful to her cause. But I’m pretty confident this is the direction they’re gonna go especially considering how the aftermath of the melting looks in the beginning sequence of the movie.

Do you really think you're going to fill a theater with people looking at a movie about an extremist? Especially, an audience that came to the first movie specifically to be inspired?

I respect everybody’s opinion. And I love that so many people do love this and I wouldn’t take that away from them. However, for me, I felt like it was OK. If I were to grade this film and the stage show I would give it a B- With that being said, I do think it deserves all the love it is getting. I just feel like it’s not for me. I think return to Oz will always be my favorite oz film. And I love that you guys love that film as well. Gregory MaGuire’s book (wicked, the life and times of the wicked of the west)Is my favorite book so maybe I’m biased. Every actor was amazing. And the soundtrack is incredible.

Let’s not over in state the importance of a practical set. Yes, they had practical sets was just always nice but they’re in a fantasy land so of course things are going to be CG especially when you’re trying to do them in scope . and the great and powerful had because we saw all of us we didn’t see the emerald city or munchkin land or these places we saw a larger space and nobody complains about CG when it’s a marvel that is filmed almost entirely in a blue room on a movie lot. Also, the Wizard of Oz does not need to be rewritten. It doesn’t need to be redone. It’s a classic and it’s wonderful as it is and wicked should be seen as it always was as it’s own iteration and take on a pre-existing world that existed for almost 100 years prior . Wicked entity and should be seen and respected as such as well as the Wizard of Oz the film in the books . The difference with the 1930s film is that we only saw Dorothy story but the original book if you want to get technical was a series and they had different things in adventures in the world outside of Dorothy., Dorothy was one situation in the film. Didn’t try to change that they just talked about Dorothy story but the books have others stories in them. But the practical affect this film, especially if you’re going to film it in this cool tone instead of technicolor like it originally was filmed, and it defeats the purpose of those practical sets. They just get wasted because you don’t get to see the beauty of them not to mention, the emerald city wasn’t even more like Plaza square than a city in powerful emerald city felt like a city and wicked the palace when they do meet the wizard did feel grand when they were in it, but the city did not.
