Uptempo literally made the evolution of Hardcore to take steps backwards. Fans have dropped their standards by accepting low effort tracks and buying them. While fans drop their standards so do producers. Now we've had so many disappointing tunes from producers who had never let us down with their releases. And those who put their best effort to the tracks don't get fame at all. We lost Pandorum already and made Ophidian question his place in the Hardcore scene. Now that I hear Uptempo, it reminds me of the damage it has caused to scene in general.

Man I love the complex songs of Ophidian very much, also very much the new ones (Love is Digital, Running on empty). But imo there's just no need to compare this music to other styles like uptempo. Music is no competition. You can't say that one track is "better" than another just because it's more complex. Terror has been around for a long time too and it's very minimalistic, for example the old Neophyte stuff. For me it's mood dependant what I like more. If I'm more in a party mood, I'll prefer Uptempo and Terror. When I'm in a deeper mood (I can't really describe it. First I wanted to write sad or alone, but its not right) then I'll listen to stuff like Ophidian's (to cheer me up, just as an example). As for producers dropping their standards, I think it's just the normal cycle. I imagine it as very difficult to always come up with new exciting kicks or styles. But if some artists fail to keep surprising us, there will be other artists (that doesn't necessarily mean that artists are bound to fail eventually, see Ophidian who's still keeping it coming). Like now for example Deadly Guns in my opinion, a very good upcoming artist with his own style, but again already getting kinda stale imo. That's just the way I, a humble meaningless random person on the internet, see it. kind regards

Yes of course, Nosferatu and Tha Playah are providing real Hardcore (and also other artists that are in the scene since years, or recently like you or Restrained), but not as much as in the past. If we take this year, they released only "Controlled By Chaos" for Tha Playah and the "Lived and Died Again" EP for Nosferatu that had good melodies. All the rest are remixes, and colabs with raw artists like E-Force (full of screeches) or artists like Furyan and N-Vitral (anti-climax). I was used to tracks where kicks and melody did only one, made those two, Evil Activities, The Viper and so on. If you take a look at Neophyte Records, it’s now a majority of uptempo and anti-climax tracks. The same for other labels. Of course, this is only my personal opinion, about what is a real Hardcore track or not. And I understand that artists want to try new paths, not making the tracks always in the same pattern.
