Some context on why people are understandably emotional. Sakurai revealed that the results of the Smash polls for most requested new fighter that was taken back during the Wii U - that was over a -DECADE- six years ago. And the most requested was Sora. Imagine -ten years- more than half a decade and an entire console generation going by and the chances of Sora being on Smash seems non-existant, even though both Cloud and Sephiroth are here despite never being on a Nintendo console. And then we are hit with this massive bombshell. Fans emotional reaction is totally justified. *Edited for corrections*

it's not a bit too much if you know KH. It's not just about a your favorite character being in Smash. I don't wanna go too deep into this but there is a reason why KH fans keep saying "Kingdom Hearts isn't just a game, it's an experience." Sora is a character that gives people hope and he helped many people in their childhoods during dark times. It may sounds cringe but it's the truth. I even recently read a comment of someone saying that KH helped him prevent committing suicide.
