This is such a great insight. Take a look on a famous author of "Act-Age" for example. You can see his manga's characters that he doesn't have any LEWD elements to his minor or young female characters especially the children actress, they're so pure and cute to the point that you can't even lewd them. But look at him in real life, he was just caught and arrested for harassing an underaged girl.

Oof, salt in the womb. I wish so much that he wasn't a pedo. 11:11 Often the line between a drawing and reality is blurred but at the end of the day it's a drawing of a fictional being so it's ok for someone to like whatever drawing since it's art and art has many qualities to like. It takes skill to draw whatever and each drawing has it's own value and qualities and skill etc. It also helps that if someone spends time consuming, reading and looking at drawings instead of actually chasing umderage kids etc.

It's that age old question which is to what degree can media influence us? We have plenty of evidence to support the fact that it's surprisingly quite a bit. Fiction and advertising can greatly influence people's behaviors or perspectives. Many people will formulate an entire personal philosophy around a fictional character, and base their personality on theirs. It's definitely real. Now we have to wonder how much responsibility does the artist actually bear for that effect? Now we could argue that just because someone is inspired to maybe emulate something, doesn't mean they didn't already have the capacity for that same thing long before. They just found a specific way to act it out. Something that seemed to embody their own personal thoughts. And it had nothing to do with that creators work itself. Someone who becomes inspired to murder someone, in the same way a Dean Koontz novel describes, doesn't implicate Koontz in that person's actions necessarily. Not even if Koontz was hoping it would effect someone that way. Their intention literally doesn't matter because fiction isn't an outright order to behave a certain way. But most often an artist has no intention of influencing anybody's behavior. Their goal is simply to tell a story and express their own world view through a fictional world they've invented. And then we have to just acknowledge free will. A fictional story doesn't attempt to directly suggest anybody do anything. And someone may just be susceptible to being influenced in very extreme ways.

I see the ‘does fiction affect reality’ and pro-ship/anti debate on twitter a LOT, and this is just my opinion, but fiction ≠ reality. The biggest example people who think the opposite bring up a lot is the jaws effect but it doesn’t work the way they think it does. When jaws came out, shark attacks did not increase because obviously, sharks can’t fuckin watch movies and be influenced by them. Instead, fear was raised in humans who in turn actively sought out sharks to kill them. Fiction can have an effect on reality, but it doesn’t turn people into p*dophiles/ab*sers/r*pists/etc, just like video games don’t turn people into violent shooters. If it does, it probably means that person was already predisposed to that type of behavior. Just because you enjoy something in fiction, it doesn’t automatically mean you condone it in real life. How many people enjoy dark fiction and yet live normal lives? Just because we like a bad guy in a movie or show or whatever doesn’t mean we’d accept that behavior in real life. SO, in regards to the topic of the actual video, liking loli characters doesn’t mean you automatically like actual children. Lewding fictional characters does not mean you enjoy lewding actual children. As adults, you should be able to separate fiction from reality, and if you can’t, then you shouldn’t be consuming this type of media in the first place. Anyway, that’s my opinion
@krismarshall38034 жыл бұрын

Manga isn't just drawn kids' stories, it's the field which should be strictly censored and questioned before being printed and given to the sell. Creators without deep insight into values, humanity, sanity etc and craving for popularity are the worst since they don't know what their creations can bring. On the same note, would like you, The Anime Man, to do a video about the really disturbing game (if it can be called ''game'' at all by its purpose) which came out of a 34 years old USA citizen claiming himself otaku /, in fact, the worst thing I found recently on the internet which really shakes me and raised the question to where humanity nowadays goes if such evil exists. it's about YandereDev, a Yandere simulator - pretty much you can guess that another USA citizen just randomly uses Japanese content and for the worst needs. The dreadful thing which the developer calls a ''game'', it in detail explains how to kill and dispose of classmates, teachers etc. On the surface cute little girl is just going around the school, but when you dig in it shows violent and most disturbing content which can't be called a game sure. I tried to report to youtube but it seems youtube isn't interested to look at its content properly and at least censor what isn't proper for minors, and I believe it isn't proper for adults either (what's proper in the application made to teach how to kill people, and it's not just another shooting or mystery game, it's just raw detailed killer guide!?). I hope that others will also activate awarness and report it (its videos on youtube too) and at least make some critique since it really is worse and worse for those videos with instructions on how to kill in a cute way are gathering enormous views and responses from underage - who enjoy in this yandere trope. Anime and manga internationally lack criticism and censorship. I believe that we can change it so younger generations can actually see apart what's wrong and what's not ok to consume in this modern field of art. Hope you can give a good review and alarm to Yandere Simulator since it calls for attention and warning.

I remember seeing this one picture of actual, irl Japanese school kids doing a dance in uniform on some channel or another, and the comments were still making jokes of 'Lol FBI' 'Goin to jail' 'Worth it' And that was just uncomfortable. Like, even if it's just meant as a joke, come on. I don't care about anime or manga stuff, but some people don't know where to draw the line at.

ROBOTPETER101 yeah that’s messed up. I guess it shows the bridging of the gap between fiction and reality? I hope not. Another red flag is some of the child idols in Korea and Japan right now. As shortly as can be explained, Lolicon is Fictional love - doesn't matter what kind of love, - of underaged or underaged looking fictional characters. While Pedophile is inappropriate love towards real-life underaged girls. I firmly believe that it is much better to be a Lolicon - someone who loves fictional underaged/underaged looking girls, - getting off on fictional underaged looking girls, than it is to be a Pedophile. Why? Because, in most cases, a Lolicon will know perfectly well the difference between Real Life and Fiction, and won't ever even think of doing anything in Real Life. While a Pedophile will most likely collect pictures/videos of underaged/underaged looking girls in real life, study their usual routines, and sometimes even delve into stalking to find out where they live and what they do at home, etc. Not to mention the Pedophiles that would also gladly do it with a real-life underaged/underaged looking girl, too.
@randomnameforarandomnerd84004 жыл бұрын
totally get what you’re saying but i’m just gonna do a nitpick: not all pedophiles victims are underage girls. i think you executed your points very well though and i think that was cool. i agree with what you said but i just wanted to get my earlier point across.
@swissidol84034 жыл бұрын
But is it completely out of the question to assume that a lolicon can transition into pedophilia? I feel like I can say for sure that someone like Joey sees the idea of waifu-culture a bit like Pokémon; They’re cute and all, but have no real-world implications. That’s why I’m not uncomfortable about him boasting his inherent “love” for Shinobu. But at least for me personally, it’s already pretty iffy to masturbate to loli-type characters in anime/manga/eroge/etc. At the end of the day though, I do still believe that there’s a distinction between lolicon and pedophilia, that being the sexualization of minors. Now when it comes to finding a girl with triple-D sized tits and a body that puts the Kardashians to shame sexually attractive, knowing full well that she’s only 16-17, you got me stumped, man.
@John_19204 жыл бұрын

The stark difference is that finding someone sexually attractive and being sexually attracted to someone aren't the same thing. The nuance is hard to reify, but I suppose it's the difference between saying someone is attractive, and saying you want to have sex with them. Something like that
@John_19204 жыл бұрын
@@swissidol8403 "But is it completely out of the question to assume that a lolicon can transition into pedophilia?" As with most things in life, this is also a valid concern because, just as one could become addicted to drugs through their hospital visits, there are bound to be those Lolicons that will inevitably transition into a pedophile, yes. You are not wrong there. "I do still believe that there’s a distinction between lolicon and pedophilia, that being the sexualization of minors." They both sexualize underaged or underaged looking girls/women, indeed. But the difference is: Lolicons, no real-life females were hurt during the masturbation session. Pedophiles, real-life females were potentially, to quite likely, hurt during the encounter.

A fun NSFL Manga I recently read is Trash (that’s literally the name). It follows the mercenary’s Bullet and Francesca while they do fucked up jobs for the yakuza family they currently work for. Trash has a little of everything: Pedofhilia, really gruesome murders (actually there are a lot of those), rape, general fan service, some feel good wholesome moments, interesting and fun characters, all kinds of torture torture, loli wolverine, really fucked up backstories for the main characters and soooo much more. It even has some depth and brings up some really interesting themes in some arcs. In conclusion: a fun and fairly short read that takes you on a wild ride until it throws you off, knocks you out and hides your body from the authorities. 👍🏻

To answer the question you posed, I think it depends on what exactly you're attracted to in the character. Is it the character's design or personality? Or is it the character's youth, innocence, naivete or lack of understanding of sexual topics, etc? If it's the second one then I think you should think hard about that and seek therapy. To add on: if you find a loli character arousing then that's a big yikes, considering that said character is supposed to look like a child, hence being called a loli. The problem is that if you indulge in such "activities" like watching loli "material", you normalize it inside your mind and can seek out groups that support such thoughts, which can then encourage (directly or indirectly) you to act on those desires, and then harm a real child. Tldr: liking a "loli" character for their personality and aesthetic is fine, but liking them because you find them arousing is highly questionable.

I mean it's the same argument with video games. Just because minors (even though fictional) are involved, it feels worse. It's only a form of entertainment and storytelling. Just like you don't become a buff marine full of rage if you play Doom, you don't become a pedophile by just watching some fiction. I'm not saying that it isn't a cause, but it isn't a sole cause. None of us became anarchists after watching Joker. It only happens when certain sick individuals consume media that aligns with their false thoughts. But people don't want to have that conversation, people would rather have it be black and white.
