Desi might be the most underrated performer in the history of television. His work on "Lucy" both in front and behind the camera was unparalled. Lucy received most of the accolades but without Desi, the show would not be the timeless classic that it became. His guest hosting on SNL only reinforced his comedic talent. A charming and brilliant man.

It is still there, I worked about a mile from it for 5 years now called Culver Studio. Now across from Sony Pictures. These people are what true clean comedy is all about. By now we've heard about the Arnaz family problems, but they always acted graciously towards one another after their marriage. At some time or another we all have family problems. I've heard it later stated they stayed together not only for their show, but for their children, and the rest of their fans. Compare that with today's Hollywood which IS a totally different entity. Thank You Claudia for these pieces of comedic gold. Old B&W television never looked so good. Read this while you still can because we are next on KZbin's radar. Praise The Lord and Godspeed to you all - James 5:13!!
@robinlillian94716 жыл бұрын
The comedy might have been clean, but Arnaz''s private life was not. He was NOT what you would call a reliable family man. He was famous for his affairs and his heavy drinking. It was a major humiliation for Lucille Ball. Eventually, she couldn't take it, anymore. They stayed friends, and he did care for her in his own way, but he was a horrible husband. He was nothing like the character he played in I Love Lucy, except that he was a band leader and they WERE married at the time, but that's it. He was very intelligent. He worked AND played hard. HOWEVER, Lucille Ball was the level-headed, reliable one--the exact opposite of the show.

OK, first of all, it was the 1950s if the show wasn't, squeeky clean, it wouldn't have made it on the screen. Remember, this is the era of , LEAVE IT TO BEAVER, and FATHER KNOWS BEST! LOL
