One of those bands that has to simmer and cook for a few years, you keep coming back to them from time and then one day the light bulb goes off and it's like this is fooking genius music. RIPMES

That's exactly how it was for me. Got high and listened to Hip Priest and it suddenly all made sense
@nbenford18372 жыл бұрын
Exactly. I was given a greatest hits album back in the mid 00s, but something about so many "versions" of The Fall in quick succession was nauseating. Then I picked up Hex and I couldn't believe it. I was in love. I went back, started from the beginning, and it all makes more sense now. Top tier band.

Yup. I got into post punk years ago, but only really dug a handful of their singles. Then The Classical became one of my favorite tunes and that I would revisit every so often. Then years went by and I randomly decided to listen to I Am Kurious Oranj and something just clicked and I loved everything about it. Working my way through the whole discography now and there’s so much greatness.

How are they underrated? They've got a large fanbase, were reviewed in all the major music magazines, and have been name-dropped as influences by a bunch of well-known bands. I love The Fall but there's a lot of filler in their discography, which I guess is to be expected when you're as prolific as they were.
@gargantuk Жыл бұрын
@t.n.3819 Perhaps the post pertains to the fact that The Mighty Fall never really had - or still don't have - recognition/respect at a more mainstream level. You are right in saying their credentials are pretty impeccable with reference to 'the underground' but 99 out of a hundred bastards on the old strasse will have no idea who yer on about, like. You're right as well about filler - apart from the odd touch of sheer brilliance, I think once poor old Craigy Scanlon and then definitely Hanley, S had gone they were on a steady downwards trajectory until the bitter end. The ever changing and personality-less lineups from 99/2000 onwards rarely constituted 'classic' Fall, in my clichéd and tired opinion......

The Fall - Cruisers Creek 1407pm 3.6.24 along with hey! luciani, hot aftershave bop, white lightning... this is one of the finer pop songs proferred up by the absurdist strategists they demed the fall. almost normal. the only thing that grinds me gears is the question: qhere is this buider's compound situated - the site they filmed the video? is it what is now deemed the white hotel, salford? i dunno, hence my asking.... anyone got the gall to answer...?

One of the great Fall tunes, with a special place in my FallFan heart--it was the first song by them l ever heard, coming from an obscure college radio station in South Orange, New Jersey. The Olde Tyme video is interesting, with some imaginative touches, though it really doesn't capture the spirit of the song. P.S. Can't believe how many singers smoked back then.
