Even with 0 confidence you should definitely do theatre! We aren’t here to judge you, we are here to help you learn and gain confidence on stage, ever since I joined theater I can tell you for fact I have not been judged not even once we are all here to just have fun and most of the time we don’t force you to do anything, for the most part it’s on your time to get up there so you don’t have to do anything till you get the confidence to. Theater is really fun and you should definitely join :))

i am convinced after the first few moments in the video that my friend is a theatre kid. she is not in talented theatre, but she does do the play every 3ish years, is obsessed with musicals, does ballet and takes dance class, is a certified band kid™️, and also oddly bursts into song when she hears something that sounds similar to those lyrics. i now have questions. update: i asked her if she likes theatre and she said that she would do theatre if she had time. it is confirmed.

I did 3 community theater shows. As each went on I got more small talking points and background like “Flirty Girl” but still ensemble. Literally the least stressful part. There was only one part I had a line.

@@i.love.willowAnd that is why the youth theatre company I'm with does a character development session with the ensemble. During week 2 or 3 of rehearsal, the ensemble meets with the assistant director and we answer questions like "What's their name?" "How old are they?" "What do they do for a living?" "Who is their family?" "What's their ambition?" "Their likes?" "Their dislikes?" etc. And anyone who wants to tell the group what they came up with can share. I'm in the ensemble for my current show and actually have 2 characters. I figured out 1 of them but still need to do some work on the other

I’m a theater kid who initially comes off as shy (because of my respect for adults jk I’m just scared to get yelled at) so I get a lot of “Oh deary, don’t expect to get a part. The ensemble welcomes everyone!” Before auditions 💀 it’s so passive aggressive I can’t- I do like proving them wrong. Time to do it again in 16 days… wish me luck!

I love musical theatre but I am in no way, shape or form musically talented and a horrible dancer too. also I live in Germany where high school theatre isn’t even really a thing, so I guess it wouldn’t have been an option to begin with. but for some reason I’m addicted to these compilations although I can’t even relate to about half of these haha.

I saw CFA in 2019 as a birthday present and I absolutely loved it!!! It was so simple, yet complex, and it covered such a sad event in a creative way where you laugh but are not desensitized… if that made any sense

Lemme give you a brief description of my experience in theatre: First off, we always have the people who get the same types of roles every year, and then we have me and one of my besties. I kid you not, me and her always sing half or all of the soundtrack of Six for vocal warmups. Yet,that one girl that sang half of “Tomorrow” from Annie for her audition got a main 💀 don’t mean to sound like a pick me, but she forgot half her lines during a show, and we had to make the show 30 minutes long instead of almost 2 hours long-

3:58 as a former theater kid, and a pilot, I was fucking pissed that DEH won. Especially since CFA and DEH played back to back one season at my local theater. I mean, there is barely any show that can make you ugly sob one moment and burst out laughing the next so flawlessly. Underrated.

Great Comet should've also won score. The recitative may be meandering, but every single aria and ensemble number blows anything from DEH out of the water. I also feel GC was the best at balancing recurring motifs and strong stand-alone song melodies among the contenders, since on one hand, almost every CFA song is basically one or two refrains interspaced by dialogue, and on the other, the DEH score feels almost as disjointed and insular as a greatest hits album, or a jukebox musical soundtrack.

Honestly being Ensemble is overall fun, but ye truth is- I want to be the person who makes people laugh on stage- but it’s fun and all doing all the stupid stuff backstage and being able to have people who do the same thing as you so you can practice the choreography together. Although- we always have those people who are like “ yOuR jUsT eNsEmBlE” and the people who thing Ensemble ruins the show and means nothing, but in reality a show would be really weird without Ensemble💀 The last show I did I was technically Ensemble but everyone had mics and we switched with people, two of the traditional mics did not work when I tried them during mic check and it was like they really didn’t want me to be heard💀 anyways they ended up getting me one of those mini microphones that people use to do like asmr or something💀 it was kinda cute, I’m just glad that it worked, I think that it stopped working mid show, but I didn’t have any solo’s or anything so it’s okay 👹

So true! Ensemble is such an important role in a show, and it adds on so much! I do theatre a lot and get a lot of ensemble and some main character roles, and it's an awesome experience being ensemble nonetheless! Also, practicing choreography with someone else is always so fun.

My school is doing Peter pan jr for the school production, and I'm in one of the youngest year groups in the school and according to my older friends younger year groups usually get ensemble or understudies of big characters (or both) so I'm still going to audition for Wendy, but I'm not sure whether I'm going to get it.
