After watching many full days of this horrendous case, I can honestly say this is one of the most knowledgeable, patient and professional judges I've seen in a high profile trial in a long time. Unfortunately his professionalism can't heal the victims or bring back the deceased. Excellent in depth coverage, well done all round.

If I were Brook, I would have said quit interrupting me.

Thanks 7 News. Hope to see other trials covered as well. The commentators add to the mix.

So the judge doesn't want the book read out, only highlight the important parts but the defence is reading the whole thing and having the officer correct his inability to read correctly.

I think it's pretty crazy that the victims need to edit their experience because it repeats the experiences of the other 100+ victims. I would imagine that it would be somewhat cathartic to have your say and ultimately the injuries, fear and suffering of each person is, in its own right, is extremely personal and life changing and deserves to be heard in its entirety.

I agree, if I were one of the victims I would have felt robbed by getting on the stand in not letting them know what a horrible experience it was for me in what I had been through, I'm sure most of these people had P TSD. I keep waiting for one of the victims to just blurt out loud, why they hell not, why can I say what happen, I'm a victim.

I can't even imagine how frustrating it was to be one of the victims trying to testing and being interrupted every 2 seconds. That is absolutely ridiculous. I mean, was it really necessary to to object THAT many times to Brooke?? Smh..

It may seem crazy but the law is the law and they have to do things according to a rule book essentially ...everyone has rights and you cannot ignore this mans rights regardless of the actions he has taken....dont judge until you have walked a mile in his shoes... i feel horrible about all the lives he has affected and i am in no way trying to say what he did was okay but i also know how hard it is to go through life with a mental illness and begging for help and doing everything i can to get it and it still didnt come until i got arrested myself. Now i am a very productive citizen and i am on the right medicine and it works, so my point is \he has rights and we shouldnt judge him based solely on what he has done... you really dont know what its like to be him. This situation was terribly sad and its a shame he got this far into the plan before someone stopped him

He was offered help he didn't take it, he didn't take his medicine, he hid it, and yes he is the sole person who is at fault. His explanation sucks, I don't believe he thinks it's true at all, he just made it up.

@@clc7763 Yes- that is the way mental illness works. Did you listen to what the defense was reading in their in their cross with the witness: this guy was not well. He admitted that there was no way to help himself and unfortunately with his illness, he of course was not thinking straight was he? Look what he did was horrendous. People lost their lives people and I mean a lot of people, are completely traumatized after this. Like 70 people or so. And there are those who survived but some of them barely right? I think instead of choosing"sides", the whole picture needs to be looked at. ❤️

I’m going to defend James here. He admitted he did it there no denying it but the constitution say you are to have a fair and impartial jury and looking at the jury he didn’t have that. When two have connection to one of the first mass school shooting, several said that they didn’t believe that you could be not guilty because insanity. Plus several new witnesses. I’m not condoning his actions but he should of had a fair trial. Plus he tried to pleading guilt but the state wanted the death penalty so badly that it cost 3 million dollars.
